General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini may have offered a huge hint on Twitter. In a recent tweet, Valentini brought up the possibility that Nina might’ve given birth to a baby boy. “Nina gets a clue about her son or daughter,” Valentini said as a teaser for the September 1 episode.
Of course, this lines up with a recent shift in Nina’s thinking as well. Nina admitted she didn’t know whether she’d had a son or a daughter, which was jarring since the show’s been working the daughter angle so hard – and for so long.
To be fair, it’s reasonable to assume Nina gave birth to a daughter. After all, a half-heart pendant certainly seems like something that’d be given to a girl. At the same time, why suddenly start acting like a son is an option? General Hospital may be laying the groundwork for a major story twist.
Let’s consider that separated heart pendant for a moment. On the surface, that seems like a pretty feminine item. However, we can think of a reason that one pendant half would be meant for a boy – and that’s if Nina gave birth to twins!
In that case, it doesn’t matter if the item’s traditionally feminine or not. It’d be about giving a pendant half to each twin – regardless of gender.
Of course, something obviously went awry if that was Madeline Reeves (Donna Mills) intended. Nina wound up with one half of the heart pendant and Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) wound up with the other. All signs point to Nelle truly being Nina’s biological child, but that doesn’t mean she’s the only one.
Perhaps Nelle has a twin brother – one who was supposed to get Nina’s pendant half and missed out for some reason. That’d be a great way to add a new mystery to this storyline. General Hospital could lead Nina to her son before Nelle ultimately returns from the dead for a family reunion.
It’d be interesting if Nelle scored herself a protective brother to back her up. That’d be a dream come true for Nelle, especially if she found ways to manipulate her new bro! No matter how this storyline plays out, the son idea is intriguing and may be another angle GH writers decide to pursue.
