General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Jasper “Jax” Jacks’ (Ingo Rademacher) assumption could lead to trouble. Is it really a good idea to take that half-heart pendant as proof that Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) is Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) biological child?
It’s true that the necklace is a match – and we know Nina’s child was adopted by a couple in northern Florida. The facts fit for Nelle to be the answer here, so it’s somewhat understandable that Jax and Carly are just rolling with it.
However, this is a soap and twists are the norm. Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) was believed to be a Cassadine until GH writers wrote in a new shocker and explained how he wasn’t. By not having Carly and Jax seek DNA confirmation, the writers are leaving the door open for a similar bombshell.
What if Nina’s daughter is actually someone else familiar to GH viewers? After all, Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) had a strange reaction to Nina’s half-heart pendant.
Willow also pointed out that her mother wasn’t someone who kept heirlooms – meaning she could’ve had that pendant in early childhood and lost it.
Nelle had the pendant on in flashbacks when she was a little girl, but it might’ve been something Frank Benson (James Patrick Stuart) stole or picked up somewhere.
Without Nelle or Frank around to confirm anything, there’s no way to know for sure – and they could be lying even if they were alive to tell their tales.
Having Nelle be Nina’s biological daughter obviously brings more drama to the table, but that’s where Jax and Carly’s assumption comes in. Whether Nelle is the real deal or not, Carly and Jax believe she is.
Nina is bound to believe it as well down the road. General Hospital can tell this story without ever confirming Nelle and Nina are truly related.
That’ll leave the door open for even more possibilities once all the drama dries up. General Hospital has already created this potential Willow angle, so it’s possible she’ll be revealed as Nina’s flesh and blood in the end. It’ll be interesting to see all the twists and turns ahead!
