General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that the ABC soap may need a replacement for one crucial actress. GH fans know Julian Jerome (William deVry) recently showed up at Dr. Kim Nero’s (Tamara Braun) apartment and met her nanny. That gave Julian a chance to learn about Kim’s baby, who’s named Andrew aka “Andy.”
Of course, there’s a good chance GH writers would’ve had Kim herself in this scene if it’d been an option. Braun was hired at Days of Our Lives again and has reprised her role as Ava Vitali, so she wasn’t available.
That’s probably why Kim’s nanny was explaining everything to Julian instead of Kim doing it on her own.
Although that solution worked out OK for that particular scene, it was a temporary fix that won’t work if Kim is needed for a more substantial arc. It’s possible General Hospital will wait until Braun’s done at Days, but they may have no way of knowing when that might be.
Since things are so uncertain, we could easily see GH recast the part of Dr. Kim Nero.
Out of all the soaps, General Hospital seems the most comfortable with sliding new actors in old spots. Recasts are an accepted part of soaps and sometimes you just have no other choice.
If an actor’s availability is the issue, a recast is often necessary. That could be the case with Kim since General Hospital writers may have more of a baby storyline in mind.
Kim’s nanny spoke with her over the phone after Julian left and insisted that Julian would never know he was the father. However, it seems likely Kim deceived the nanny.
If this baby’s name is truly Andrew – or “Andy” for short – then it makes sense for the kid to be the son of Franco Baldwin’s (Roger Howarth) version of Andrew “Drew” Cain (Billy Miller).
If that’s true, previously memory-mapped Franco and Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) have quite a storyline in their future. Kim would obviously be needed for that, so that brings us to an intriguing recast possibility.
Briana Lane was a fantastic Brook Lynn Quartermaine recast and is willing to play another role at General Hospital. What about bringing Lane back as Dr. Kim Nero?
Lane has the talent to pull off whatever she sets her mind to. Plenty of GH fans miss Lane already, so this would be a great opportunity to put her on the General Hospital canvas again.
Although Lane’s version would be a very different Kim, she could put her own spin on things and bring some excitement to the part.
