General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) will find himself on a grueling mission soon. Based on some hot GH buzz, it looks like Sonny’s going to battle amnesia following what we can assume is a nasty head injury. Sonny apparently won’t have a clue who he is or how to get home.
Of course, General Hospital writers aren’t going to do a story like that without a good reason. There’ll surely be a purpose to making Sonny deal with this memory loss. Sonny will be separated from his family – and unsure that he even has one!
Even so, Sonny should feel a deep need to figure out who he is and what exactly he’s lost. Although Sonny won’t know exactly what’s waiting for him at home, he’ll assume he indeed has a home – one he needs to find his way back to.
This storyline feels like a prime setup for Morgan Corinthos’ (Bryan Craig) return from the dead. There have been a ton of hints on screen about Morgan lately, so Sonny’s story may collide with Morgan’s return arc.
Here’s where GH writers have some options to choose from. It’s possible Morgan is also dealing with amnesia. Since Morgan was presumed dead following an explosion, that’s certainly an option to consider.
It’d be interesting if Sonny runs into Morgan somewhere and they have no idea there’s a connection between them. Amnesiac Sonny and Morgan wouldn’t know they were father and son – though they might feel a soapy sense of familiarity that they could chalk up to bonding over the same situation.
Then again, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) recently pointed out that she’d have some difficult questions if Morgan were still alive. Joss suggested she’d wonder where Morgan had been all this time and why he’d let them suffer thinking he was dead.
Josslyn ultimately felt it wouldn’t matter since she’d have her brother back, but her questions hint that maybe Morgan has stayed away willingly
In that case, finding amnesiac Sonny would be a huge surprise and leave Morgan with a tough decision to make. It might be Morgan who leads Sonny back home, which would force Morgan to explain himself and force a complicated family reunion.
Regardless, Sonny just might cross paths with Morgan as part of this amnesia story – and that could bring some great drama! We’ll keep you in the loop as other GH news and updates emerge.
