General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Mike Corbin (Max Gail) is nearing the end of his life after a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s. Elizabeth Baldwn (Rebecca Herbst) gave Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) a gentle nudge to help him move forward with what’s best for Mike. Liz believes that’s palliative care and a DNR, but Sonny’s really struggling to accept Mike’s imminent fate.
Nevertheless, there’s only so much Sonny can do to prolong the inevitable. This GH storyline has been a gripping one, but they’ve seemingly squeezed every last drop of drama possible out of it. There are really no beats left to play, so Mike’s death should be just around the corner. We could be looking at Mike passing away as part of May sweeps.
General Hospital spoilers say Sonny will spar with his family over decision-making in Mike’s final days, but he’ll most likely reach a place of acceptance eventually.
Once Sonny finally lets Mike go and Mike indeed dies, what’s next for Sonny? Based on how Sonny’s reacted to Mike’s whole ordeal, it’s tough to imagine him just grieving in a corner somewhere.
Sonny’s a take charge kind of guy and won’t to face this difficult period of mourning. It’d be very in character for Sonny to channel his pain and anger into revenge fuel. This could rev up Sonny’s war with Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober), who added to Mike’s suffering.
Sonny had the opportunity to get Mike in an experimental trial, which could’ve given Mike more time. Due to the shootout in Brooklyn, Mike wasn’t able to take that trial spot and never got another chance.
Plus, Mike has never been the same since that incident in Sonny’s opinion. It took a toll on Mike emotionally – and Cyrus was responsible for that.
Sonny’s upset that his father almost had to watch his own son get gunned down. He’s certainly not happy that Cyrus cost him precious time with his dad and made it so Mike’s quality of life deteriorated.
After Mike’s gone, it may be easier for Sonny to seek vengeance than to grieve. Sonny may want to kill Cyrus himself since his enemy made this personal.
Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) normally takes care of that sort of thing for Sonny, but this may be one task Sonny hopes to complete on his own. Will Sonny be the one to take Cyrus down once and for all? Will Sonny murder Cyrus to make him pay for everything he’s done?
