General Hospital Spoilers: Steve Burton’s Special Milestone – Celebrates Joining GH As Jason Morgan 29 Years Ago

General Hospital (GH) spoilers has some fun news to pass on about a popular GH star. Steve Burton, who portrays Jason Morgan on the ABC soap, first made his appearance on the show back on December 19, 1991.

At the time, the character was known as Jason Quartermaine, and he was a medical student following in the footsteps of his parents, Alan Quartermaine (Stuart Damon) and Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson).

Jason’s first scene on GH back in 1992 was shared with Alan, Monica, Ned Ashton (Wally Kurth), Edward Quartermaine (then played by David Lewis) and AJ Quartermaine (then played by Gerald Hopkins) at the Quartermaine mansion.

Jason entered the scene wearing a very early 90’s style jacket and looking very fresh-faced. It wasn’t until later that Jason changed his last name and became Jason Morgan following an accident.

Steve Burton remained in the role of Jason until January 2000, returning a few months later for just a few weeks. Over the years, Steve returned to the role of Jason and left several times, including back in 2013 when he joined the Young and the Restless as Dylan McEvoy.

Steve remained with Y&R until 2017, and after that he again returned to General Hospital in the role of Jason Morgan.

Steve has garnered seven Daytime Emmy nominations for his portrayal of Jason Morgan, and he won twice for Outstanding Supporting Actor, once in 1998 and again in 2017. Jason is definitely a fan-favorite character, and we hope to see him stick around GH for a long time to come.

So far, Steve hasn’t commented on his milestone GH anniversary on social media, although he’s very active on social media and on his podcast with GH’s Bradford Anderson (Damian Spinelli) called “Stone Cold and the Jackal.”

Steve recently posted pictures on Instagram of himself with two of his children, whom he noted are growing up entirely too fast.

We’re looking forward to seeing what’s next for Jason on GH, as he could have a new romance coming up, now that Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) abruptly ended things with him.

That’s left a lot of “JaSam” fans heartbroken, but we have a sense that there are some exciting things coming up on the horizon for Jason soon. In fact, there have been rumblings about a possible pairing between Jason and Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), which would be an interesting avenue.

It’s hard to believe that it’s been 29 years since Jason first burst on the scene, and we’re sure glad that he did! Stay tuned to the ABC soap and remember that CDL is your premiere source for all the hot new General Hospital spoilers, updates, and news.
