General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) recently came to a shocking conclusion that left many fans perplexed. When Carly saw Avery Corinthos (Ava and Grace Scarola) wearing the half-heart pendant, she flashed back to Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) filling her in on the long-lost daughter search. Carly remembered Nina showing her the other half of the pendant.
For some strange reason, that was enough to instantly convince Carly that Nelle Benson Jerome (William deVry) must be Nina’s daughter. Wait, what?! Carly should’ve had more flashbacks if she was going to reach that conclusion so fast.
How does Carly know how Avery wound up with the necklace? How does Carly know Nelle ever had the necklace at all? How does Carly even know it’s the same incredibly common-looking half-heart pendant? It was strange for Carly to simply see a similar necklace and connect the Nelle dots in seconds.
Nevertheless, we know Carly’s got it right. General Hospital may finally bring in the other flashbacks soon. Carly probably caught a glimpse of Nelle’s necklace during her struggle near the cliff’s edge without realizing it. GH fans know there’s something Carly feels like she needs to recall, so that may be it.
General Hospital could even go as far back as when Carly visited Frank Benson (James Patrick Stuart). Remember those scenes where Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) played a much younger Carly? Young Nelle (Willa Rose) was also there – and she had that half-heart pendant on.
Although Carly already had her weird instant realization, General Hospital may back it up with more memories. Avery could also spill the story of her discovery near the cabin, so there should be no doubt in Carly’s mind that this necklace belonged to Nelle.
Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) can confirm it’s an exact match as well since he’s looked into this necklace extensively. However, that doesn’t mean Jax will automatically assume Nelle is Nina’s daughter.
Just having the necklace may not be enough for Jax. He might argue that it could’ve ended up in Nelle’s hands another way.
Carly may have to admit that Nelle was a scheming, lying thief. How can they really know for sure Nelle was given this necklace shortly after her birth? Even if Carly remembers seeing the pendant on Nelle when she was a little girl, there’s missing time between then and when Nelle was a baby.
In other words, this necklace can never prove Nelle has biological ties to Nina. Only a DNA test can do that. With that in mind, could that still be an option? Nina’s sample should still be on file – or Jax could easily score another if need be. It’s dead Nelle who’d be the tricky part here.
Even so, it might be worth the effort to seek out some of Nelle’s belongings. Could Nelle have left a hairbrush behind at Crimson? What about in Nelle’s stuff from the home that she bought? There might still be a way to test Nelle’s DNA if they work hard enough.
Then again, there could be a simpler solution: Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson)! Since Wiley would be Nina’s grandchild, maybe Jax and Carly will get a test done to see if they share enough DNA to confirm they’re related. Will this be what proves Nelle is Nina’s bio daughter once and for all?
