General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that the end is near for Mike Corbin (Max Gail). Mike’s Alzheimer’s storyline has certainly been a touching one so far, but the most heartbreaking scenes are still to come.
GH fans have watched Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) slowly come to grips with his father’s condition and the fact that he’s fading rapidly.
Sonny managed to have one last day of fun with Mike recently, who had a blast at the track. Mike was quite touched by Sonny’s final grand gesture and even had a fleeting moment of recognition. That moment will become even more precious to Sonny once Mike’s gone – and Mike will indeed be gone soon.
TV Insider recently offered a first look at a new promo that’s centered around Mike. That’s awfully a tell-tale sign that the end is near. Stella Henry (Vernee Watson) can be seen in the preview saying, “It’s pretty clear that Mike’s Alzheimer’s is progressing.”
The promo also features shots of the Corinthos clan coming together for Mike – just to spend whatever time they can with him and keep him as comfortable as possible.
Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) will get some special scenes with Mike during the week of September 7-11. Since Joss also had to watch Oscar Nero Quartermaine (Garren Stitt) slip away in his final days, that may make Mike’s imminent passing harder for Josslyn to deal with.
Just like with Oscar, Joss will know Mike’s death is coming. It’s just a matter of saying what she needs to say to Mike before he goes.
Oscar died after Josslyn dozed off briefly, which was good in some ways and bad in others. It’s good that Joss didn’t have to see Oscar’s tragic final breath, but it also left Josslyn shocked that he was already gone.
Joss struggled knowing she’d never get to finish the book she was reading to Oscar, so she may take a different approach with Mike.
When it comes to Mike, Josslyn will hopefully be satisfied by her goodbye. Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) will also remind Mike of how much they love him – and Michael Corithos (Chad Duell) may pay Mike another visit, too.
Of course, it’s Sonny who has the deepest connection to Mike, which means he’ll also take it the hardest when Mike’s death finally happens.
Sonny won’t know how much longer his dad has left, but he’ll stay by Mike’s side as he waits for Mike to perish. General Hospital will most likely devote a full episode to Mike’s passing as they work to honor Mike’s memory and prepare Sonny for the loss.
There’ll be some emotional scenes where Sonny thinks about what would’ve happened if Mike had never been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. That should offer some bittersweet fantasy moments of what might’ve been, but the harsh reality of the situation will hit soon enough.
All that’s left to do will be to kill Mike off, so General Hospital spoilers say Sonny’s dad will finally die.
