General Hospital Spoilers: Thursday, August 20 Recap - Julian Gets To Wiley - Elizabeth Onto Nik & Ava - Nelle Cuts Brook Lynn

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Thursday, August 20, reveal that the Nurses’ Ball Telethon continued at the Metro Court, with Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) addressing the camera and telling the viewing audience to keep those donations coming for supplies for front-line workers. While this was going on, various volunteers manned their stations taking donations.

In a backstage dressing area, Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) was preparing for her performance when Julian Jerome (William deVry) knocked on the door. Julian wondered what Nelle had in store for the evening, and Nelle noted that tonight would be one of her greatest performances yet. “Call it a disappearing act, if you will,” Nelle said.

Julian thought that Nelle sounded delusional, and Nelle threatened to go to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) with what Julian did to keep Wiley Quartermaine Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson) from Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell).

Nelle, who was holding a huge pair of fabric shears, waved the shears around mildly threatening Julian as she told Julian that he WOULD help her.

In the foyer area, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) talked with Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) about how Deception was matching all donations at the telethon this year.

Talk soon turned to ELQ, and Martin mused that it sounded like Valentin was getting everything he ever wanted. “Not everything,” Valentin said, as he gazed at Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), who was chatting with Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) across the way.

Jax noticed that Nina was wearing her half-heart necklace, and Nina said that it was the only link she had to her child, so she wanted to keep it close. Meanwhile, at their booth, Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) and Dustin Phillips (Mark Lawson) talked about what happened earlier with Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Briana Lane).

Lulu expressed some sympathy for Brook Lynn, saying that usually when Brook Lynn causes trouble, it means she’s hurting.

Speaking of Brook Lynn, she gave herself a pep talk in the ladies’ room about her upcoming performance, while backstage Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) and Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) bickered about the way Ned had thrown Brook Lynn out of the Q mansion.

Soon, it was time for Ned and Olivia to perform, and they sang a duet while Brook Lynn cried backstage.

At their booth, Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) and Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) discussed Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) pregnancy announcement. Anna thought it was the best possible news, and that now perhaps Peter August (Wes Ramsey) could put the past behind him and look to the future. Nevertheless, Anna looked worried.

Martin and Valentin met back up again, with Martin wondering if Valentin might put him on as corporate counsel at ELQ. Valentin didn’t exactly answer, but soon Michael and Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) walked up and Valentin smoothly offered Michael a position as VP of Green Initiatives.

Michael balked, and Willow blasted Valentin, who was amused by that. Valentin said that it was a “new day” for ELQ.

Jax and Nina watched this exchange, and Jax told Nina that he was upset with the whole ELQ situation. Nina urged Jax to just stay out of it, because things would likely escalate if Valentin felt pressured to prove himself.

Back in the dressing room with Nelle and Julian, Julian said that Nelle’s plan (which she told him about off-screen) was insane. Julian said that “this” was never part of the deal, but Nelle said that the deal had changed, and that either Julian would play ball or face Sonny’s wrath. Julian agreed to do what Nelle wanted.

On stage, Lucy announced the next performer – Valentin. Valentin introduced his song, saying that he was dedicating it to anyone who couldn’t be with the person they love.

From their booth, Jax and Nina looked uncomfortable over that. The song turned out to be one of longing for someone who’s gone. Nina was touched by the song and started to tear up, while Jax was clearly peeved over the whole thing.

In the foyer area, Lulu and Dustin talked, and Lulu said that she’d prefer to avoid Valentin’s and Brook Lynn’s songs entirely. Still, Lulu said that she felt bad for Brook Lynn and the situation she had with her sleazy producer Linc Brown (Dan Buran). Dustin said that Lulu almost sounded sympathetic.

Back in Nelle’s dressing room, she called Julian, who was now lurking outside the Q mansion, where Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) was inside watching the telethon as Wiley slept upstairs in his bed with his stuffed kangaroo.

Nelle instructed Julian to find an access point and get to Wiley’s room, since the only person he’d have to go through was Monica. Brook Lynn lurked outside Nelle’s door, listening.

Nelle went on as she talked to Julian, saying that he shouldn’t get cold feet now and that he should remember the consequences. Nelle mentioned the tracker that she had put in Wiley’s stuffed kangaroo. Brook Lynn absorbed everything she was hearing.

In the foyer area, Martin praised Valentin, noting that his performance was very emotional, and that Nina surely appreciated his efforts. Valentin noted that Nina was with Jax now, and that he had other interests to occupy his time.

Backstage, Ava Jerome Cassadine (Maura West) bickered with Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) before he went onstage and announced that he and Ava were donating $1M to HIV/AIDS research and another $1M to the telethon.

Nikolas called Ava out onto the stage, and Nikolas announced that they were setting up a scholarship for nurses in honor of his oldest friend, Elizabeth Webber. Nikolas went on, saying that he’s see first-hand how Elizabeth embodies the “healer” virtues.

Nikolas said that they were naming it the Elizabeth Webber Scholarship, and Elizabeth looked touched, while Franco was mortified by the whole thing.

In the foyer area, Valentin approached Nina, and Nina complimented Valentin’s earlier performance. Valentin noticed that Nina was wearing her half-heart necklace, and he noted that all the lies he told Nina about her daughter were because he wanted her to be happy.

Nina said that she knew it, but that there are some heartaches that an apology can’t undo. Nina walked off, with Valentin nearly in tears.

Brook Lynn burst into Nelle’s dressing room, saying that Nelle wasn’t going anywhere until the cops arrived. Nelle played dumb, and Brook Lynn insisted that Nelle was going back to prison where she belonged.

Meanwhile, at the Q mansion, a masked Julian slipped into the living room from the terrace doors and waited around the corner while Monica was in the foyer.

Nikolas and Ava walked back into the booth area after their big scholarship announcement, and Elizabeth got up and started thanking Nikolas for his gesture. Nikolas touched Elizabeth, and Franco jumped up and reminded everyone that Elizabeth’s name was Elizabeth Baldwin.

Elizabeth thanked Nikolas and said that she was sorry Franco wasn’t more gracious. Franco stared down Nikolas angrily, while Elizabeth retreated to the ladies’ room and went into a stall.

Meanwhile, Sonny got an update from Turning Woods saying there had been no change in Mike Corbin’s (Max Gail) condition. Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) wondered if Sonny wanted to leave to go see Mike, but Sonny said no, that he wanted to honor the front-line workers who had treated his father with dignity and respect.

Jax ended up breaking up an escalating argument between Franco and Nikolas, and Ava and Nina went to the ladies’ room, where they talked near the sinks. Nina admitted to Ava that Valentin’s song got to her, and she wondered what was up with Nikolas fussing over Elizabeth.

Ava said that it was all ok, because if Nikolas sleeps with another woman, then she gets 90% of the Cassadine estate. Elizabeth overheard this.

Back at the Q mansion, Julian snuck up behind Monica and chloroformed her, while Wiley kept seeping upstairs. And at the Metro Court, Brook Lynn fumed at Nelle, saying she heard the whole plan about sending someone to snatch Wiley.

Brook Lynn tried to call Michael, but Nelle slapped the phone out of Brook Lynn’s hand. Brook Lynn said it didn’t matter, since Mac Scorpio (John J. York) was right there at the Metro Court.

Brook Lynn went to walk out the door, and Nelle called after her. “Save it,” Brook Lynn said, walking toward Nelle. “You messed with your last Quartermaine.” Nelle then took the fabric shears and swung at Brook Lynn, who got cut and immediately went down.
