General Hospital Spoilers: Thursday, January 30 Recap - Brando Corbin Shot Saving Carly - Jason Taken In For Questioning

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Thursday, January 30, reveal that Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) were kissing, and afterwards Jax apologized for being inappropriate since he’s her boss. She remarked that if it was any consolation, she never considered him her boss. Ava Jerome (Maura West) then entered and realized she interrupted something.

Meanwhile, at GH, Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) approached Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy) at the nurses’ station looking for Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst), who snippily insisted that Elizabeth was working. Kevin Collins (Jon Lindstrom) approached and chatted with Nikolas, saying that it was going to take time for people to work through what he’s done.

Elsewhere, Elizabeth and Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) discussed Hayden Barnes (Rebecca Budig). Elizabeth stated that she hasn’t heard from Hayden and that she hoped she wasn’t in danger. Finn said that he didn’t think she ever was in danger. Nikolas then approached, and they discussed his trip to reveal himself to Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel).

In the Brooklyn bar, Mike Corbin (Max Gail) and Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) took cover while Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) engaged in a shootout with the gunman. The gunman took the bartender hostage and tried to make an escape with her, but she eventually distracted the gunman so Jason could shoot him.

Jason shot the gunman dead, and later a detective arrived and questioned the bartender, who clearly stated that Jason was acting in self-defense. Jason wouldn’t talk to the detective without his lawyer, so he was taken into the station.

The detective then talked to Sonny and asked him who tried to kill him, but Sonny played dumb and said that he was just in Brooklyn to take his father in for a clinical trial.

Next, at the Corinthos Coffee warehouse, shots kept ringing out as Carly took cover behind some big bags of coffee, while Gladys Corbin (Bonnie Burroughs) and one of Sonny’s men hid in the office. Another man, whom Carly assumed was one of Sonny’s guys but was really Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor), protected her and moved her to safety but was shot in doing so.

Eventually, the shots stopped, and Sonny’s guys captured one of the gunmen. One of Sonny’s guys then called out for Carly, who let him know that one of his guys got shot trying to protect her. Carly then learned that this wasn’t one of Sonny’s guys, and she stared at him as he lay bleeding from his gunshot wound.

On the pier, gunfire rang out, but suddenly Dustin Phillips (Mark Lawson) ran up and knocked the gunman down. The gunman ran away, with Dustin following after him.

Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) were ok but shaken, as was Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), but Laura Collins (Genie Francis) had been shot and was unconscious. Dustin then reappeared after being unable to track down the gunman.

Meanwhile, at the courthouse, Jordan Ashford (Briana Nicole Henry) needled Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) about getting out on bail, then got a phone call about the various shootings. Valentin overheard her say that the mayor was being brought into GH and he perked up.

At Crimson, Jax got a call from Josslyn about the shooting on the pier and took off. Ava and Nina talked a bit, with Ava actually trying to be civil, and Nina wondered if she was actually looking to be friends. They decided that being friends might be a bit much, but that they might get a drink sometime and talk.

At the hospital, Nikolas made an attempt to talk with Elizabeth, presumably to tell her about his role in Hayden’s disappearance, but just then Epiphany came up and announced that Laura had been shot.

Finn, who was also standing by, went to prepare for Laura’s arrival. Kevin, Dustin, Lulu, and Valentin eventually showed up on the scene, with Valentin acting very concerned about Laura.

At the pier, Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) started questioning everyone starting with Josslyn. She reported that the gunman was aiming straight at Michael. Jax then appeared and embraced Josslyn.

Michael told Chase that he had no idea why he would be shot at, and that he can’t get hold of Sonny or Jason, which is very unusual. Eventually, Chase told Michael about the other shootings.

At the warehouse, Jordan arrived to find Carly and Brando on the ground, with Carly tending to his wound. Carly asked about where the ambulance was, since this man was shot and he saved her life.

Sonny’s guy talked with Jordan and explained what happened. While this was going on, Gladys came along and spied Brando and cried out his name. Carly looked stunned.

Back at GH, Kevin visited with Laura, who was now conscious. Laura joked with Kevin about how dangerous the waterfront was, and he noted how many people loved and cared about her. Meanwhile. Finn blasted Nikolas for what he did to Hayden and for lying to Elizabeth about it. Nikolas said that he was going to tell Elizabeth but that given the shooting, now’s not the right time.

At Crimson, Valentin arrived to see Nina, but she didn’t want anything to do with him. He just wanted her to know that he was out on bail and is almost a free man.

Finally, in Brooklyn, Sonny learned about the other two shootings from the detective. She talked big for a while, but eventually decided that he could go. As he and Mike were getting ready to leave, Sonny got a call to confirm Mike’s appointment with the clinical study.

Sonny sadly told them that they couldn’t make it for the trial, even though it meant that Mike couldn’t be in the study.
