General Hospital (GH) spoilers for Tuesday, August 18, tease that the 2020 Nurses Ball will kick off with a red-carpet event, but things will be a little different this year. Instead of all the unusual gowns and tuxedos, the attendees will be sporting Nurses Ball T-shirts.
However, Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) will still put on a good pre-party show with a little help from Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright). We’ll see some interviews and awkward moments as the guests start arriving.
You can bet things will remain tense between Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) and Ava Cassadine (Maura West), who just shared an offscreen kiss and blamed each other for it.
It’s clear that Ava and Nikolas have an interesting love-hate relationship going on. Now that Ava knows about Nikolas and Spencer Cassadine’s (Nicolas Bechtel) hidden agenda, Nikolas is more trapped in this marriage than ever. Of course, if their kiss is any indication, maybe Nikolas doesn’t mind as much as he’s letting on!
For now, Nikolas will ignore Ava as much as possible. Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) will even wind up swooping in for Ava’s red carpet interview, so that could lead to more drama with Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst).
Jordan Ashford (Briana Nicole Henry) and Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) will also take a break from all the Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) drama for the evening – or at least they’ll try to. Something tells us it’ll be hard for Jordan to forget about the threat that’s looming over Port Charles.
As for Dustin Phillips (Mark Lawson), he’ll accompany Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) to the Nurses Ball and get ready for a fun night. However, the Nurses Ball tends to head into disastrous territory eventually.
That’s especially true when Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) is around! GH fans know Nelle recently lost the custody battle, but she has no intention of walking away from her son.
In fact, Nelle plans to kidnap Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson) thanks to her fake passports and the tracking device in Wiley’s stuffed kangaroo. That tracker’s linked to Nelle’s phone, so it looks like she’ll be monitoring it all night.
Nelle may think this would be a good opportunity to sneak away from the bash and snatch Wiley. He might be home with a babysitter once Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen) and Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) join the Nurses Ball merriment.
Regardless, Nelle will have to keep her guard up – especially when Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) starts sniffing around. Spinelli will surprise Nelle when he walks up behind her in a dressing room. When Spinelli wonders if he’s interrupting something, Nelle will undoubtedly try to get him off her back somehow.
Other General Hospital spoilers say Kelly Monaco will be back in the role of Sam McCall, so that’s great news for fans of classic “JaSam.” Now that Sam’s got a more cooperative parole officer, she’ll find it quite easy to squeeze in some extra time with Jason.
Tuesday’s GH episode shows Jason in his hospital bed saying, “Take it or leave it.” Jason’s smiling as Sam smiles back and quickly accepts the offer.
It seems Jason and Sam will talk through their issues regarding Sam’s deal with Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). Jason might suggest that although he still isn’t happy about that deal, he’s willing to move forward.
Then again, Sam’s compromise with Jason might be about their plans after Jason gets out of the hospital. Whatever the case, it appears Jason and Sam will be on good terms. Sam will be wearing a Nurses Ball T-shirt, so she’ll probably head over to the event after she wraps up this chat.
Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) will also be on hand for the party and can be seen flashing a thumbs-up sign at Carly in Tuesday’s preview. Carly winks in reply, so it’ll be nice to see “CarSon” enjoying themselves before the night inevitably spirals into chaos.
General Hospital spoilers say Olivia Quartermaine (Lisa LoCicero) will be interviewed with Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers), so Olivia may make Robert her “date” since she’s still at odds with her husband.
Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) has been infuriating Olivia lately, so it’s no surprise that she’ll gravitate toward Robert on this light-hearted evening.
During his interview, Robert will tell Carly and Nina that he’s keeping his options open. Ned’s probably going to battle jealousy over Olivia taking Robert as her plus one, so GH fans can expect more clashing!
Valentin will give a brief interview as well – and it looks like he’ll have some nicer attire to change into. General Hospital spoilers say Valentin will promise to rise to the occasion, so it seems he’s planning a surprise song for Nina. Look for Valentin to make another effort to win Nina over later this week.
Finally, Tuesday’s episode will bring an encounter between Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson). Sasha and Chase will do some commiserating, but their night’s going to get worse soon enough. We’ll pass along updates as other GH news rolls in.
