General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Tuesday, August 4, reveal that Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) bickered with Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) at the hospital. Jordan Ashford (Briana Nicole Henry) walked up wondering what was going on, and Monica blasted Cyrus, saying that they “didn’t want him here.” Cyrus went on about how he had been exonerated, and how he wanted to get the hospital back in good financial shape.
Cyrus said that he’d appreciate Monica’s and the board’s support. “When Hell freezes over,” Monica barked. “That may come sooner than you think,” Cyrus said, walking off. Later, Jordan was at the elevators when Cyrus ambled up and told Jordan that she was going to be his secret weapon in his bid to take over the hospital.
At the Quartermaine mansion, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) interrupted Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) and Olivia Quartermaine’s (Lisa LoCicero) argument.
Olivia took off, and Brook Lynn talked with Ned about ELQ. Brook Lynn didn’t spill the news about Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) buying up ELQ shares, and Ned lamented about how he needed to prioritize and put family first.
Ned even said during the conversation that he wished he could hand over the company to someone, which struck a chord with Brook Lynn. Later, Brook Lynn had gone, and Olivia talked with Ned in the foyer, saying that she needed Ned to help her grieve for Dante Falconeri (Dominick Zamprogna).
Suddenly, Laura Collins (Genie Francis) appeared at the door, interrupting their conversation.
Laura proceeded to ask Ned for ELQ’s support in keeping the hospital from falling into Cyrus’ hands. Ned said he’d help, and that he’d need the approval from his family’s stakeholders.
Laura took off, and Olivia asked if there was any news on the interloper who was buying up ELQ shares. Ned said no, but that calling a vote would bring the interloper to the surface. “It’s time to find out who we’re dealing with,” Ned said.
Outside the Q mansion, Laura called Jordan, who was still at the hospital with Cyrus. Laura told Jordan that Ned was on board to help the hospital. After the call, Jordan told Cyrus that Laura would never buy that she was backing him.
Cyrus said, “Well, then you just need to be smarter. I want the hospital and you’re going to help me get it.” Jordan looked miffed.
At the Metro Court, Valentin and Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) chatted, and Valentin asked Martin to look into who was controlling Sam McCall’s (Lindsay Hartley) kids’ shares of ELQ. Valentin said that he needed their voting proxies. Brook Lynn came along and recognized Martin as being Nelle Benson Jerome’s (Chloe Lanier) lawyer, then she put two and two together and realized that Valentin had Nelle’s ELQ shares, too.
Brook Lynn asked if Valentin could increase ELQ’s value, and Valentin said that he could. “All you have to do is keep your mouth shut,” Valentin said. “Tell no one that I have Nelle’s and your shares.
Stay quiet and you get what you want.” Brook Lynn said that they had a deal, and she and Valentin shook hands. After Brook Lynn left, Martin returned, and Valentin said that they needed to find out everything there is to know about Sam’s parole officer.
It the Corinthos kitchen, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) found Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) looking glum over Mike Corbin’s (Max Gail) condition.
Sonny left to go think about what to do about the DNR, and Jason and Carly spoke. Jason said that he had talked to Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) and set up his own medical directives.
Jason then asked Carly to be his power of attorney over his estate, and he confirmed that she knew his end-of-life wishes, which Carly did.
Carly tearfully questioned why Jason didn’t choose Sam as his POA, and Jason said that he didn’t want to put Sam in that position, and that she wouldn’t be able to let him go. “And you think I would?” Carly asked. “Yes,” Jason said. Carly agreed.
Meanwhile, Sonny went to the nursery to see Donna Corinthos (Ella and Emma Hulen). Sonny talked softly to Donna, saying that he had a difficult decision to make – a decision that she’d never have to make for him.
Sonny told Donna that he just didn’t think that he could deny his father any more chances to experience joy. Sonny’s phone rang, and it was Turning Woods calling.
Sonny then returned to the kitchen. Jason was no longer there, and Sonny told Carly that Turning Woods had called to say that Mike hadn’t eaten in 24 hours, and they needed to know whether to put in a feeding tube.
Sonny said that he was going to let the doctors put the tube in, and Carly said softly that Mike just wanted Sonny to do what is right for him. Sonny said that none of this is right with him.
At Alexis Davis’ (Nancy Lee Grahn) house, Sam arrived and told her mother about how Julian Jerome (William deVry) had backed up Nelle in court. Sam admitted to slapping Julian, and Alexis admonished Sam. Over tea, Sam and Alexis rehashed what was going on with Julian, and together they decided that Nelle must be blackmailing Julian.
Sam asked about Neil Byrne (Joe Flanigan) and Alexis said that she hadn’t told Neil that she got disbarred. Sam squawked about that a bit, and Alexis deflected talking about that. Soon, Sam got a text from Jason to meet, and she took off. Alexis then almost called Neil but didn’t.
At Crimson, Nelle and Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) argued. Nelle griped about Nina taking Carly’s side, but Nina fired back that Carly wasn’t the problem here.
Nelle rehashed some of her history with Carly, but Nina set Nelle straight, telling her to get her facts right. “You sabotaged your own relationship with Carly,” Nina argued.
Nina went on to tell Nelle that she was the cause of her own problems, and Nelle tried to get under Nina’s skin by calling her an heiress and implying that she didn’t ever work for what she had. Nina wasn’t having it, and finally Nelle stormed out.
Finally, Sam met with Jason. Sam expressed surprise that Jason wanted to meet, and Jason said that he wanted to give her the heads-up about something. Sam listened as Jason said that Mike was deteriorating, and that he wanted Sam to know his wishes in the event anything happened to him.
Jason then dropped the bomb that he was giving his POA to Carly. Sam was dumbfounded, and she wondered if Jason wanted her to thank her for this…because she didn’t think she could. Sam then walked out, upset.
