General Hospital Spoilers: Tuesday, May 5 Recap - Carly Insults Nina For Not Being A Mother - Nelle Asks Boss For Custody Help

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Tuesday, May 5, reveal that Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) and Ava Jerome (Maura West) continued their conversation at Wyndemere. Franco offered Ava comfort after learning the hurtful things that Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) had said to her about her girls. Franco thought that Ava should get out of her toxic marriage, and he even upset Ava a bit with talk about how he could see the hurt in her eyes resulting from the consequences of her bad choices.

Ava wondered how Franco coped with his past, and he explained that he tried to be of service to others and have a loving relationship with Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) and the boys.

Franco then told Ava about his argument with Elizabeth earlier, and that he had said something hurtful to her. Ava urged Franco to go apologize to Elizabeth and make things right.

Meanwhile, at GH, Elizabeth and Nikolas continued their conversation. Elizabeth continued to freeze Nikolas out, but she softened a bit when she heard that Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel) had communicated with Nikolas.

Elizabeth urged Nikolas to walk away from the Cassadine fortune and forge a relationship with his son. Nikolas said that it wasn’t that simple.

Talk then turned to the subject of Elizabeth and Franco’s argument earlier, and Nikolas listened, then supported Elizabeth in her abilities as an artist. Nikolas urged Elizabeth to think about painting again, and Elizabeth reiterated that Nikolas should call Spencer.

At the Metro Court, Nelle Benson Archer (Chloe Lanier) met with Martin Gray (Michael E. Knight) about her custody hearing tomorrow. Nelle revealed that she was buying a house, and that she was ready for this fight. Martin needled Nelle a bit, asking if she was ready with any character witnesses. Nelle replied that she didn’t have any family.

Martin proceeded to tell Nelle that she had made things difficult by refusing to consent to Wiley Quartermaine Corinthos’ (Erik and Theo Olson) surgery, and he told an irritated Nelle that the best they could hope for was shared custody.

Martin wondered if Nelle was ready to be a mother, and he told her to be prepared for tomorrow and to get a character witness. Nelle fumed that Martin better not let her down, then she walked off.

At Crimson, Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) arrived in the foyer and talked to Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) via phone about the custody hearing. Inside Nina Reeves’ (Cynthia Watros) office, she and Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) discussed the fact that Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) dropped her custody petition against Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart). Carly knocked and then barged in.

Carly asked if Nina had anything that they could use against Nelle at the custody hearing tomorrow, but Nina said that Nelle had been an exemplary employee and that Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) should compromise with her. Jax stood there horrified by that, and Carly realized that Nelle had won Nina over.

Carly blasted Nina, giving her all the reasons why Nelle shouldn’t be trusted. Carly got worked up, as did Nina, and Nina argued that Carly wouldn’t like to be judged by her past.

Nina argued that people change, and feelings change, and that Wiley may be better for having the love of two parents. Jax was on Carly’s side in this, then Carly took it too far and said that there was more to being a mother than biology, but that Nina wouldn’t know that since she hadn’t been a mother.

That caused Nina to double down and say that maybe Nelle was telling the truth and Brad Cooper (Parry Shen) was lying, and Carly left exasperated. Carly then ran into Nelle in the foyer, who wondered if Carly was trash talking her to Nina.

Carly said that she tried, and that eventually Nelle would betray Nina just like she’s betrayed everyone else.

Nina was busy defending Nelle to Jax when Nelle walked up to the office door and overheard. Nelle knocked, then entered, and Jax left. Nelle asked Nina if she’d vouch for her at the custody hearing tomorrow and testify on her behalf.

Finally, over at the clothing drive, Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) fumed at Kristina Corinthos-Davis (Lexi Ainsworth), asking if she was just supposed to let Kristina get exploited and brainwashed by Shiloh Archer (Coby Ryan McLaughlin).

Kristina said that Sam should wake up because she was depressed and hopeless long before she became a DOD member, but that Sam didn’t care then.

Sam got peeved, saying that she went on trial for murder and lost time with her kids because of what she did for Kristina. Kristina argued that Sam was addicted to danger and that she and Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) are just danger junkies who can’t stand the day-to-day living.

Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) tried to intervene, but Sam and Kristina kept arguing. Molly Lansing-Davis (Haley Pullos) interjected that Sam and Jason’s love was real, and Kristina said that there was no question that Jason would die for Sam, but that he couldn’t live with her.

Kristina said that Sam’s relationship with Jason was always hotter when they’re forced to be apart. Sam fired back that all she dreams about is a quiet life with Jason, and Kristina insisted that Jason’s first priority was to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) and Carly.
