General Hospital Spoilers Update: Monday, August 17 – Carly Celebrates Nelle’s Failure – Disturbing Portrait Brings Ava’s Vow

General Hospital (GH) spoilers update for Monday, August 17, teases that Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) will keep pushing Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton). Anna won’t see why Finn can’t put aside his differences with his father and stepmother – just for one day.

Finn will admit he’d like for Violet Finn (Jophielle Love) to have a relationship with her grandpa eventually, but he won’t think that’s something they have to decide on right now.

However, Anna will point out that Gregory Chase (James Read) has already missed events like Violet’s birthday party. She’ll really fight hard to get Gregory on the guest list, so Finn will seem pleased when Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) appears.

It’ll provide a bit of a distraction for Anna, who’ll soon become more curious about Chase’s plus one.

Anna will wonder if Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) will be attending their nuptials with Chase, but he may not have an answer for her. Chase might even plan to fly solo under the circumstances.

Regardless, Chase may offer updates on the custody case outcome, which brought a big win for Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) and Willow Corinthos (Katelyn MacMullen).

Now that Willow and Michael are free to be a family with Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson), Chase will feel like all’s well that ends well. Of course, it didn’t end so well for Chase and Sasha!

Finn may acknowledge that and wonder how Chase is really holding up. Chase will put on a brave face and try to accept that his sacrifice made Willow happier in the end.

As for the wedding guest list, Anna may seek Chase as an ally on the Gregory issue. Chase has a much better relationship with Gregory than Finn, so Anna may hope he can praise their father’s good qualities. Although Chase may not want to overstep, he might argue that Gregory would really love to be at the wedding.

Chase might point out that Finn put up a fight on them bonding as brothers, but that turned out great. Finn will definitely feel some pressure to invite Gregory, so Anna’s pushiness may seal the deal on his dad being there.

At Wyndemere, GH fans will finally see what this mysterious portrait looked like. When it was uncovered, it drew a bizarre reaction the partygoers. Everyone was pretty unsettled and perplexed, but there were no screams or major gasps.

The portrait under that covering was unexpected, but it can’t be all that horrific based on how they looked at it.

Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) didn’t seem to recognize what he was looking at, so this doesn’t seem to be what he painted for Ava. Did Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) replace the portrait behind Ava’s back? Could it be a painting of dead Kiki Jerome (Hayley Erin) as another grim reminder of Ava’s guilt?

Ava seemed disturbed and hurt by what was in front of her, but Franco may insist he had nothing to do with this. There’s a good chance Ava will rip into Nikolas next, so we’ll see if he denies portrait meddling. Later, Ava will vow to remedy the situation permanently, so Franco may worry about what that means.

Likewise, Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) will fear that Ava’s going to drain every last bit of goodness out of Nikolas – that is if he still has any. Liz will end up cornering Ava at one point as well, so Ava will have to deal with some accusations.

Elizabeth will feel like Ava’s her own worst enemy. Ava will be sabotaging herself according to Liz, but Ava may not care about Franco’s wife has to say.

Meanwhile, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) will discuss an inevitable outcome. General Hospital fans know that once Valentin sets his mind to something, he rarely backs down. That was certainly the case on this ELQ takeover mission.

Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) cast the tiebreaker vote that put Valentin in power, but it appears he’ll reassure her on Monday. Since Lucy’s battling guilt, Valentin may point out that there was nothing she could’ve done to stop him. Why fight it when Valentin was going to win anyway? At least that’ll be the way Valentin sees it.

Other General Hospital spoilers say Carly Corinhos (Laura Wright) will order up a round of drinks and breathe a sigh of relief over the custody battle win.

Now that Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) is out of the picture, Carly will want to thank Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) for what she did on the stand. Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) will also get Carly’s gratitude for his continued support.

Carly will toast to everyone who made this possible, so Jax and Nina will join in. In the back of Nina’s mind, she may still feel bad about tanking Nelle’s case. There’s no doubt that Nina played a huge role in why Nelle lost custody of Wiley.

Once a call comes in for Jax, he’ll answer it and get some significant news. The jeweler will probably have information that could lead Nina to her biological daughter, so we’ll see where this half-heart pendant story heads next.

No matter what happens on Jax’s end, the true big reveal may come in a far simpler way. It seems likely Nina will notice Nelle wearing the other half of that heart pendant sooner or later.

In the meantime, Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) will nearly come clean about her pregnancy. Peter August (Wes Ramsey) will wait on Maxie to tell him whatever she has to say, but it seems Maxie will bail at the last second.

General Hospital spoilers say Maxie will make a big announcement at the Nurses Ball, so that may be where this GH baby bomb ultimately drops. CDL’s where you want to be for scorching General Hospital spoilers, updates and news, so don’t forget to pop in regularly.
