General Hospital (GH) spoilers update for Wednesday, May 20, teases that Nelle Jerome (Chloe Lanier) will get ready for another round of battle. Julian Jerome (William deVry) would rather not be mixed up in Nelle’s marriage mess, but he’ll stick to the plan. Nelle will be pleased when Julian refuses to accept defeat, so they’ll walk back into that courtroom as allies against the Corinthos family.
Martin Gray (Michael E. Knight) will come out swinging against Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright), who’ll struggle to maintain her composure. Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) may have to shoot Carly some dirty looks when Martin pushes her buttons.
Carly’s credibility will be demolished thanks to Martin’s tactics, but Carly will try to stay calm and hope Diane can serve as Ms. Fix-It.
Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) will endure Martin’s difficult questions as well – including one about whether Michael loves his new wife. Although Michael loves Willow Tait (Katelyn MacMullen) as a friend and a fill-in mother for Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson), he hasn’t fallen in love with her yet. Michael will dance around the truth as best as he can, but Martin will make it tough.
Martin will attempt to smear Michael’s good name and downplay his reputation within the community. Diane’s main goal is making her clients look like the loving parents they are, but Martin can’t use that same strategy for Nelle. He has no choice but to drag Michael, Willow and everyone connected to them through the mud!
As for Nelle, she’ll believe Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) is going to back her up on the stand. Nina made it seem like she would support Nelle, but will she really? After all, Nina made it clear that she was doing this for Wiley and had a strange expression during her embrace with Nelle. Nina may actually be gearing up to blindside Nelle with a courtroom betrayal.
If so, Nelle’s good luck charm may be what saves her. She’s been clasping the missing heart pendant half in court, so Nina may soon face a stunning realization. Whether that necklace is on Nelle’s neck or in her hand, Nina might notice it and decide she can’t go against her long-lost daughter.
Other General Hospital spoilers say Mike Corbin (Max Gail) will continue to suffer at Turning Woods. Now that Mike’s sleeping all the time and no longer eating, Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) feels like he’s ready to die.
Liz has seen enough cases like Mike’s to know what’s up, so she warned Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) that Mike probably just needed the greenlight from Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).
Jason explained that to Sonny, who’ll remain reluctant to let Mike go on Wednesday. Sonny may worry that Mike will feel like his son’s giving up on him, but Mike’s clearly already given up himself. Mike’s just barely hanging on now, so he needs Sonny to let him know it’s all right to pass away.
Jason can’t tell Sonny what to do here, but he’ll reveal what his own wishes would be. GH spoilers say Jason will admit he’d want to go in Mike’s position. He may add that he’d want his loved ones’ approval, so this is setting up Sonny’s tearful farewell to his dad. Sonny will likely return to Mike’s bedside and suggest that whenever he’s ready, Mike’s free to leave this world behind.
It’s certainly looking like Mike will indeed die within the next episode or two, which should give Mike’s story some poignant closure. Next, Ava Cassadine (Maura West) will push Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) to pick his fortune or his son.
Of course, Nik may point out that he already made his choice. Despite Spencer Cassadine’s (Nicolas Bechtel) ultimatum, Nikolas doesn’t seem interested in a divorce.
That’s partly because Nik thinks he can push Ava out of the marriage through the infidelity clause. However, it also seems like part of Nikolas doesn’t want out of his marriage at all. Some feelings seem to be bubbling just under the surface, so we’ll see how long Ava and Nikolas can fight those.
At GH, Liz will try to explain her complex feelings for Nikolas, which she’ll compare to Franco Baldwin’s (Roger Howarth) feelings for Ava. Franco doesn’t trust Nikolas at this point, so this is becoming a bigger marriage issue by the second.
Fortunately, Liz and Franco may be smarter than Nikolas and Ava give them credit for. General Hospital spoilers hint that Franco and Liz may pick up on some clues about what the Cassadines are really up to. That could be what keeps Liz and Franco’s relationship from falling apart.
Meanwhile, Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) will question if Laura Collins (Genie Francis) is really prepared to do something. There’s no word on what that something is, but it may be supporting a search she believes will lead nowhere.
Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) will rely on Laura’s assistance as he tries to uncover the truth about Holly Sutton (Emma Samms), who he believes may have survived.
Laura will battle concerns about Robert pulling the wool over his own eyes. She’ll fret about the possibility that Holly’s genuinely dead, which could mean Robert’s getting his hopes up for nothing.
Thankfully, Robert seems to have the right idea based on General Hospital spoilers and all the latest clues. Holly appears to be alive and kicking, so it’s just a matter of figuring out the truth!
