General Hospital Spoilers: Wednesday, August 19 Recap - Taggert’s Alive - Maxie’s Pregnancy News Hits The Airwaves

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, August 19, reveal that Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) again welcomed viewers to the Nurses’ Ball Telethon, explaining that the show benefited HIV/AIDS causes as well as frontline healthcare workers. Various people were shown manning their booths and taking calls as donations started pouring in on the phone lines.

Meanwhile, in a dressing room, Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Briana Lane) suffered from stage fright, and Dustin Phillips (Mark Lawson) came in to help calm her nerves.

Out in the foyer area, Franco Baldwin (Roger Howarth) asked Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) if she was mad at him, and she gave him the cold shoulder, while backstage Lucy gave Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) a pep talk about her big presentation about Deception.

Anna Devane (Finola Hughes) spoke briefly with Peter August (Wes Ramsey) as Damian Spinelli (Bradford Anderson) and Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) looked on from afar.

Spinelli insisted that Maxie needed to know the truth about Peter…tonight. Elsewhere, Portia Robinson (Brooke Kerr) quizzed Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) about why Jordan Ashford (Briana Nicole Henry) sang the praises of Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) at the press conference.

Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy), Cameron Webber (William Lipton), and Trina Robinson (Sydney Mikayla) rushed in the Metro Court, as they were running late for their performance.

They bumped into Curtis and Portia, and Curtis tried to make nice with Trina, telling her to break a leg and that her dad would be proud of her. Trina said that she didn’t need Curtis to tell him that, and Curtis’ face fell. Portia looked after her daughter, upset.

Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy), Felix DuBois (Marc Samuel), and Amy Driscoll (Risa Dorken) took the Nurses’ Ball stage and said a few nice words about how the telethon supported first responders and front-line workers, while back in a dressing room Dustin continued to comfort Brook Lynn, reminding her about how she tends to get stage fright and gets past it.

Out in the reception area, Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco), TJ Ashford (Tajh Bellow), and Molly Lansing-Davis (Haley Pullos) were talking about Jason Morgan’s (Steve Burton) recovery when Brando Corbin (Johnny Wactor) walked by. TJ was thrilled to see Brando and called him over, horrifying both Molly and Sam.

Lucy continued on stage, talking about Deception and showing photos of Sasha Gilmore (Sofia Mattsson) in the background. Lucy noted how Deception would match all donations for the evening, and she discussed how she and Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) worked together with Maxie at Deception.

Backstage, Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) hurriedly tried to get Maxie’s microphone working, and neither knew that Maxie’s microphone was on and that their conversation was being broadcast live.

Maxie and Lulu proceeded to have a discussion about Maxie being pregnant, which everyone everywhere heard. Peter was stunned, Spinelli looked mortified, and Anna was thrilled as Lulu and Maxie went on about the pregnancy.

Lucy, who was still on stage, rushed off and approached Maxie backstage, and Maxie rushed onstage to give her spiel. Lucy followed her and told her that everyone had heard her private conversation with Lulu. Maxie was horrified and bolted off stage.

Meanwhile, back with Brook Lynn and Dustin, Brook Lynn was grateful for Dustin’s support, and she misunderstood Dustin’s signals and moved in for a kiss. Dustin was shocked, and Lulu walked in to see the kiss.

Dustin fumed at Brook Lynn, saying that they were just co-writers and that he had moved on. Brook Lynn was upset and rushed off.

Lucy took the stage again, and Felix ran out telling Lucy that Cyrus wanted to say a few words. Lucy balked, but Felix said that Cyrus was waiting in the wings.

Cyrus gleefully took the microphone and said a few words about overcoming adversity and how he came with a bad reputation but was grateful for this opportunity to serve the Port Charles community.

From their vantage points, Portia and Curtis looked appalled by Cyrus’ display, and backstage Epiphany told Felix and Amy that this was the start of a dire time for the hospital.

In a backstage room, Peter rushed in to find Maxie and asked her if the news about her pregnancy was true. Maxie said yes, and Peter positively beamed with happiness. Peter asked why Maxie hadn’t told him, and Maxie said that it was a great dream…for someday.

Maxie went on about how Deception was her dream, too, and that she didn’t know if she could do both. Maxie started rambling about sacrifices, and Peter stopped her, saying that he’d sell the paper in a heartbeat if that’s what it took, and that he could make sacrifices, too.

Maxie was thrilled and she and Peter hugged happily.

Elsewhere, Portia and Curtis were discussing Jordan having been called away, when Cyrus walked up and needled Portia about working at HIS hospital. “In a way, you work for me,” Cyrus noted. Portia walked off, disgusted, followed shortly by Curtis.

Next, it was time for a performance, and Cameron, Trina, and Josslyn took the stage to perform their upbeat number. Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher) beamed as Josslyn sang, and both Elizabeth and Franco looked proud of Cameron.  While this was going on, Brook Lynn threw things around in the ladies’ room, clearly unhappy with her incident with Dustin earlier.

Portia and Curtis talked in a hallway, having just missed Trina’s performance because of Cyrus. Portia wished that Marcus Taggert (Real Andrews) had been there to see Trina.

And Jax told Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) that he was going to follow up with his jeweler friend about her missing child. Nina wondered who her child had turned out to be, and Valentin walked up and asked how Nina was doing. Jax told him to back off.

Anna and Mac Scorpio (John J. York) burst into the room where Peter and Maxie were hugging, and they offered their congratulations to the happy couple. Anna flashed back to an earlier conversation with Robert, during which Robert reminded Anna that Peter could be Alex Devane Marick’s (Finola Hughes) son.

Near the bar, TJ and Brando were hitting it off, talking about boxing, and TJ suggested that they spar, when Molly intervened and said that TJ shouldn’t be sparring now. Sam dragged Brando away from Molly and TJ. Brando said he wasn’t trying to cause trouble, but Sam didn’t believe him.

Back in their hallway, Portia told Curtis that she still missed Taggert, and soon Portia admitted that Curtis was a large part of the reason that she and Taggert didn’t make it. Taggert got uncomfortable and headed back to work the phones.

Next, Jax and Nina took the stage to perform a dance number, with Valentin watching in the wings. Afterwards, Valentin told Peter that had been a questionable mentor, and that he had some advice.

Valentin proceeded to tell Peter to tell Maxie whatever it is that he’s keeping from her. Peter mulled that over, then met back up with Maxie while Spinelli told Robert that he wasn’t going to bust Peter just yet, but that they had to act quickly.

At the pier, viewers saw the man who met Jordan, and it was Taggert, alive and well. Taggert told Jordan that he was in Port Charles because he had unfinished business – he was here to kill Cyrus after the Nurses’ Ball.

Through their conversation, Taggert and Jordan explained how Jordan got Taggert a new identity, and that Epiphany was in on the plot to make Taggert “die” at the hospital. Taggert expressed regret that Trina was grieving him, but he said it’s how it had to be.

Jordan and Taggert argued over the way things were playing out with Cyrus. Taggert didn’t think that Jordan had a well-formulated plan to take Cyrus down, but Jordan insisted that she needed time to let Cyrus think that she was under his thumb.

Taggert was peeved about Jordan’s press conference, but Jordan said that it was all part of the plan. Taggert didn’t like it, but he agreed to let Jordan deal with Cyrus…for now.
