General Hospital Spoilers: Wednesday, January 8 Recap - Ava Demands Post-Nup - Valentin Says He's Not Helena's Son

General Hospital (GH) spoilers recap for Wednesday, January 8, reveal that Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) ordered someone over the phone to increase security on all deliveries, with Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) reminding him that Gladys Corbin (Mel Harris) could have overheard him. Just then, Gladys came in and Sonny took her away, saying that he had a surprise for her.

Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) then arrived to greet Carly, who shared the news about Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma) being alive. Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) arrived and Carly gave them some time alone.

Alexis Davis (Nancy Lee Grahn) happened to show up to deliver some documents, and she was angry that Sam and Jason were sneaking around and violating the terms of Sam’s parole.

Alexis then learned from Carly that Nikolas is alive, and she took off for Wyndemere. Sam wondered why Carly asked her and Jason to come there, and Carly explained that she wants to strategize so Sam can get out of her predicament.

But Sam and Jason thought it was too risky to sneak around. Carly suggested they go over the parole officer’s head, and Jason said that he has someone in mind.

Meanwhile, Sonny and Gladys had coffee at the coffee house. She went on about enjoying being at his house, but Sonny had another plan. He gave her keys to a new car that she can use to visit Mike Corbin (Max Gail) whenever she wants.

Gladys realized that she was being bought off and that she overstepped last night. She asked to stay until Donna Corinthos’ (Ella and Emma Hulen) christening, but Sonny said no. She then gave him some research she did on Alzheimer’s.

Later, Sonny returned home to find Carly alone in the kitchen. He examined the research that Gladys gave him, and Carly wondered what it was, Sonny said that it was an article on a medical trial in New York that he thought would help Mike.

Over at Wyndemere, Ava Jerome (Maura West) woke up with Nikolas standing by the bed holding her gun. He held her at gunpoint for a moment, then relinquished it. They bickered about the codicil – he wanted it since he agreed to her terms and married her.

But Ava said she needed the codicil as leverage to protect herself. Nikolas promised not to go back on his word, but she said he’d never find it.

Ava then called out for Liesl Obrecht (Kathleen Gati), who soon arrived. Ava asked her to take Nikolas downstairs for coffee, but Liesl balked at the order. After some bickering, it was established that Liesl would stay at the castle for the time being.

Downstairs, Liesl griped at Nikolas for what he did to Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud), and she warned him to be careful where Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart) was concerned.

Alexis then walked in and hugged Nikolas, prompting Liesl to leave. Alexis blasted Nikolas for what he had done to his family and especially to Spencer Cassadine (Nicolas Bechtel). Ava then came in and alluded to their wedding, which shocked Alexis, and ultimately she didn’t buy that they were happily married.

Once Alexis was gone, Ava dropped the bomb that she had a post-nuptial agreement draws up to protect herself in the event they split.

Meanwhile, Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight) showed up at Lulu Spencer’s (Emme Rylan) house to check on Charlotte Cassadine (Scarlett Fernandez) for Valentin. Turns out, Charlotte was asleep, so that was a bust.

Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros), Laura Collins (Genie Francis), and Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) were all present and talked about what Valentin had done. Nina looked torn up as everyone blasted him.

Lulu was on the warpath, saying that Valentin was going to lose custody of Charlotte, and Laura quizzed Nina about when she knew that Nikolas was alive. They all realized that Nikolas was Charlotte’s secret bodyguard, and Lulu was enraged.

After Nina left, Lulu said that she’d contacted Diane Miller (Carolyn Hennesy) about seeking sole custody, but Maxie suggested that she hold off on that until she knows if it’s really necessary.

At the coffee house, Liesl and Nina talked, and Liesl hated seeing Nina in so much pain. Nina was worried the most about Charlotte, who didn’t deserve any of this. She lamented that they had taken Charlotte away from Valentin and that Valentin was treated like a kidnapper.

Nina wondered what would have happened had she made a different choice.

Next, Robert Scorpio (Tristan Rogers) talked with Valentin at the PCPD. Valentin taunted him about having nothing on him and his “unlawful” arrest. That went nowhere, and soon Martin arrived. Martin told Valentin about his visit at Lulu’s.

Valentin took particular interest that Nina was there. Martin asked if Valentin still loves Nina, and he said yes.

Martin then explained that the language of the codicil is straightforward, and Valentin will have to submit to a DNA test, but that Nikolas would have to produce the original version of the codicil, and that there were ways to block the DNA test.

Valentin denied that he’s Helena Cassadine’s (Constance Towers) son – they hated each other. Martin then vowed to investigate Nikolas, and Valentin insisted that he get him released soon before Lulu made a move with respect to Charlotte.

A bit later, Jason arrived to see Robert, followed shortly by Sam. Robert wondered what was up, since the two of them weren’t supposed to be together. Sam said they had a proposal for him.
