General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that there’s something Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) doesn’t know, which is unusual since Cyrus prides himself in being very in the loop around Port Charles.
Since Neil Byrne’s (Joe Flanigan) overdose death was so reminiscent of how Jordan Ashford’s (Briana Nicole Henry) old colleagues died, it led to her confronting Cyrus. Jordan was initially adamant that Cyrus must’ve been involved.
Jordan has since changed her tune since Cyrus offered no sign of guilt and didn’t even seem to know Neil. Cyrus himself seemingly revealed he wasn’t behind Neil’s death by calling his henchman and pushing him to find out where the drugs that killed Neil came from.
On September 21, Cyrus got confirmation that Neil had indeed overdosed on his product.
So what’s going on here? GH fans know Neil didn’t seem to be a drug addict, so there has to be more to this General Hospital story. It seems like Neil was targeted – and perhaps Cyrus was targeted, too.
Was the person to blame for Neil’s death trying to set up Cyrus? That’s a possibility to consider. Let’s dive a little deeper and see if we can figure out who’d have a motive to do that.
The person responsible might’ve wanted both Neil and Cyrus to pay. If so, Deidre Byrne may be an option to mull over. She’s Neil’s ex-wife – and the mother of Joanna Byrne, who died several years back after getting caught up in a drug-based cult.
Deidre might’ve blamed Neil for not being able to help Joanna and prevent her suicide – IF it even was a true suicide.
It could’ve just as easily been a setup by Cyrus if his drugs were being circulated around this cult. Regardless, Cyrus’ drug business was booming while he was behind bars – and the drugs in Joanna’s old cult had to come from somewhere.
In addition to blaming Neil for being unable to save Joanna, Deidre might blame Cyrus if his product is what killed her daughter.
That could be the reason for a potential setup. If Cyrus had a hand in Joanna’s death, he got off scot-free for it. This could be Deidre’s attempt to get rid of the ex-husband she held partially responsible and take Cyrus the drug supplier down with him.
Deidre could be killing two birds with one stone by arranging for Neil’s overdose and hoping it would lead the PCPD back to Cyrus.
