General Hospital (GH) spoilers tease that Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) has been making some huge changes at GH – ones that could put the hospital’s patients in jeopardy. Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) and Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) were fired, so that was certainly a major shakeup.
Now Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) is back to inflict misery as GH’s new chief of staff.
Cyrus wants to diminish the roles of those who have had a longtime presence at GH – and Britt has no intention of going against him. It seems like Britt’s more than eager to go along with whatever Cyrus has in mind. Britt’s got some serious power now, so she’s loving it.
Meanwhile, other staff members at GH are suffering due to Cyrus’ decisions. Epiphany Johnson (Sonya Eddy) was dropped down to an administrative position, so she won’t even be able to work with patients anymore.
Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) no longer works full-time at GH and can only pick up two measly shifts a week.
Of course, nurses like Epiphany and Liz do great work for the hospital – just like Bobbie and Monica did. There may be other shakeups in store soon, so all this upheaval seems risky. General Hospital spoilers point to patients potentially being put in jeopardy as a result of the changes Cyrus is making.
With that in mind, let’s consider how Wiley Quartermaine-Corinthos (Erik and Theo Olson) might be affected.
General Hospital brought up Wiley’s heart condition after Nelle Benson Jerome (Chloe Lanier) kidnapped him, so they obviously don’t intend to brush that under the rug. In fact, it could become quite important since another surgery is coming up for Wiley down the road.
Now that Cyrus is getting rid of some of GH’s best staff members and demoting others, what happens if there’s an issue and Wiley’s surgery has to be bumped up? Wiley can’t get his surgery at Mercy because…well, the show’s not called Mercy Hospital. Nobody cares what’s going on over there.
Due to the lawsuit Nelle filed, it would probably be better for Wiley to have his next heart surgery elsewhere, but that’s not how this will go. Since Wiley obviously has to have the surgery at GH, General Hospital writers may write in a medical crisis that requires quick action. There may be an emergency that forces this surgery ASAP.
Wiley may need the procedure done immediately at the closest hospital, which is GH. Could there be some miscommunication or incompetence that puts Wiley’s life at stake? Since General Hospital previously made a big deal about this second surgery, that’s certainly a possibility to consider.
Wiley will surely pull through, but you can bet Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) won’t be happy if his grandson’s in danger. Sonny may blame Cyrus for making changes that leave patients vulnerable – patients like little Wiley! This could be the last straw that really revs up the Cyrus and Sonny war.
