General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that Drew Cain’s (Billy Miller) return would open up several new story possibilities. Drew was killed off in August 2019, but fans never got a real sense of closure from his presumed death. That may have been intentional if GH writers plan to bring Drew back one day.
Soap deaths aren’t usually final anyway, but this one felt particularly open-ended. Peter August (Wes Ramsey) has done some despicable things, but the worst was arguably arranging to have Drew killed. There’s no way Peter’s ever going to get past that in some viewers’ eyes.
The same goes for the people of Port Charles, who’ll eventually find out Peter ordered Drew’s murder.
If Peter sticks around, it makes sense for General Hospital writers to undo Peter’s worst offense. Drew could turn up alive – either with Billy Miller back in the part or with a recast stepping in. If that happens, there’d be some great reunions and opportunities. Let’s consider how Drew’s return might affect Jason Morgan (Steve Burton).
Drew and Jason never really got a chance to bond as brothers, but perhaps it’s not too late! If Drew came back home, he’d probably be able to relate to Jason more than ever. Jason was kept away from his family for five long years. GH fans will recall that Peter held Jason at the Russian clinic against his will.
As for Drew, he’s been gone for close to a year at this point. If Peter’s been holding Drew captive somewhere, Drew may connect with Jason over a similar experience. Maybe Drew would also appreciate the way Jason’s stepped up as a father figure for Scout Cain (Ella Ramaciera).
Although General Hospital could work the angle of dueling daddies eventually, this would be another interesting story strategy. Jason had no way of knowing Drew would ever come back to PC.
Jason did the right thing by serving as a fill-in dad, so Drew might offer his gratitude. It’d be nice to see Drew and Jason have a true twin connection if Drew reenters the picture.
