General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that one ABC soap star recently spoke out about the show’s return to production. The studio had to shut down due to COVID-19 aka coronavirus concerns, so the cast and crew haven’t been able to film new episodes. Although everyone was originally supposed to return to work by April 30, they’re obviously not going to make it back by then.
On Twitter, William deVy (Julian Jerome) weighed on that in a response to a fan. When someone wanted confirmation on this April 30 date, deVry made it clear that it wasn’t going to pan out. He insisted it was “Def not” happening.
That same fan replied, “Rats! Any word from TPTB when you can report back for good?” Unfortunately, deVry couldn’t include an exact timeframe on that. He acknowledged that things are still up in the air and suggested that General Hospital Executive Producer Frank Valentini should eventually deliver news.
However, deVry is hopeful about a speedy return – at least as speedy as possible under the circumstances. We all certainly need the cast and crew to stay safe! That has to be the priority, but we can still look forward to when the gang’s back in action and ready to make new shows for us.
“I hope we can get everyone back to work soon,” deVry tweeted. “I will let @valentinifrank update you guys. I wish I had the magic wand.” Sadly, there’s no quick fix as deVry mentioned. We’ll all just have to ride out this COVID-19 crisis and hope for the best.
Luckily, GH has been finding ways to make their episodes last. For starters, they’ve been doing Flashback Fridays. By showing an encore episode each Friday afternoon, that definitely helps a bit.
General Hospital has also been padding shows with plenty of flashbacks, which has brought some complaints here and there. However, these flashbacks will keep the show on the air longer – and that’s ultimately a good thing.
Besides, flashbacks aren’t inherently bad! Just because something has aired before doesn’t mean it can’t be useful to air again. For example, it was nice to see a recap of Hamilton Finn (Michael Easton) and Hayden Barnes’ (Rebecca Budig) story.
Since it was Violet Finn’s (Jophielle Love) birthday, it was fitting to provide a reminder of how she came to be and why her mom couldn’t be there.
Bottom line, if these flashbacks help GH stay on the air longer, that’s something to embrace! Once there are updates on an exact date for the cast and crew’s return, we’ll be sure to let you know.
