Meghan Markle continues to work with a UK charity that she worked with before stepping back from her royal duties. While she was still in the UK, Meghan had a considerable amount of involvement with Smart Works, which is a charity that provides coaching and proper business clothing for vulnerable women looking to re-enter the workplace.
Kate Stephens, the Chief Executive of Smart Works, recently told the online magazine The Flock that Meghan Markle is still “absolutely involved” in the organization, even though she now lives across the world in Los Angeles with Prince Harry and their one-year-old son Archie.
Stephens said that Meghan first approached Smart Works before she and Prince Harry married. “I think she just really connected with what we were doing and the way that we were doing it,” Stephens said. “She saw the impact we were able to have, in terms of both clothes and the coaching, in helping women.”
Then, in January 2019, Meghan became an official patron of the organization. In her capacity with Smart Works, Meghan launched a capsule clothing collection, and she has supported the organization’s efforts in providing coaching and business attire to women from vulnerable populations who want to re-enter the workforce.
In fact, Meghan Markle has done more than just support Smart Works’ efforts. Back in April, Meghan participated in a coaching session, in which she encouraged and advised a Smart Works client who was preparing for a job interview. The coaching session was done via video call from Los Angeles.
And happily, the client with whom Meghan worked ended up getting the job after her interview. The Smart Works Instagram feed proudly announced the accomplishment, saying: “Our patron, The Duchess of Sussex, recently surprised one of our clients during her coaching session. We are so thrilled that following her virtual appointment, our client got the job and will be starting her internship during the summer months.”
