Where are they now? Dottie began her weight loss story three years ago. She was the mother of two and one of her children was special needs. Her son Daniel had Cerebral palsy. He needed constant care and Dottie was the one to take care of him. She did so right up until his death. Daniel died during her journey and his death had set her back. She fell into a terrible depression. She stopped losing weight and her health took a turn as well. It had taken remembering her other child to remind her that she needed to get healthy. She started losing weight again and she’s even had skin removal.

Only Dottie wasn’t doing what she should have after the surgery. She started gaining weight again and she continued smoking. Dottie was at high risk of failure. She tends to ignore her doctor when she’s back on her own again and so Dr. Now put her up at the rehab facility. He has her going through rehab there. She’s been there for a month by the time the show caught up with her and Dottie is still complaining. She complains about everything. She doesn’t want to drain her wound properly. She was irritated by the tubes. She wants to return home and yet she wasn’t following doctor’s orders.

Dottie was more concerned about her anniversary as well as Mother’s Day. She wasn’t understanding why she had to stay at the rehab facility. She didn’t care what her condition was because she all she wanted to do was go home and so Dottie wasn’t helping herself here. She was standing in the way of her own progress. Dr. Now could see it and she couldn’t. She was too self-absorbed to see it. Dottie even began ignoring Dr. Now’s advice while she was at the facility and she ordered food in. She ordered junk food. She began overeating again and she managed to gain weight while she was supposed to be losing it.

Dottie claims she wants to go home to her four-year-old son. She just wasn’t acting like she wanted to go home to him because if she did she would be following the facility’s diet and she wouldn’t be throwing everything Dr. Now did for her back into his face. Dr. Now later scheduled her for therapy. He thought she was still depressed after losing her son and that’s why she was so fixated on being there for the son she has left. He wanted Dottie to speak to someone about it. She was supposed to be processing her grief and she instead looked at therapy as just something she had to do.

She set herself up to fail by saying it wouldn’t work. Dottie is still struggling with her weight loss because she needed to work on her mindset and she wasn’t alone in needing to do this. Cynthia was the same. Cynthia began her weight loss story almost two years ago. She was the single mother of five children. She came weighing over six hundred pounds and at first, she was the model patient. She lost the weight she needed to and she was approved for surgery. Cynthia was doing really well until she returned home. Cynthia has unhealthy eating habits and she goes back to junk food whenever she can.

Cynthia claims she doesn’t have the time for anything else. She said that taking care of her five children was very demanding of her and that she had to turn to junk food. She failed to consider healthy options at these same restaurants. She also failed to work out during this time and so it was shown she gained weight at her next appointment with Dr. Now. She gained when she should have been losing. Cynthia didn’t see the big deal. She thought she was taking the weight loss at her own speed and so the doctor had to correct her. Dr. Now told her she failed.

He then demanded she change her behavior or she wasn’t going to be approved for further skin removal. She had one surgery on her arms and she wasn’t doing anything else to qualify for more surgeries. If anything, she was going backward. Cynthia’s weight was slowly climbing back up and it would only get worse if she didn’t treat it. She also needed to cut out the junk food altogether. She needed to cut down on her calorie intake and she might even need to speak to someone. Cynthia needs to get to the heart of why she’s going back in recovery.

Dottie later spoke to the therapist. The therapist pointed out how she’s never truly grieved for her son and so the doctor took her through it over the next month. Dottie’s behavior, as well as her condition, improved. She lost weight again. She also reassured Dr. Now. Dr. Now felt she could be trusted to go home and so he had her released. Dottie finally going to do what she always wanted. She returned to her husband and son. Her son had shied away from her. He hadn’t wanted to hug or kiss her and so Dottie did her best to repair their relationship.

It took Landon a couple of weeks before he was comfortable around his mother again. He also seemed to have received a setback in the work his mother did with him and that angered Dottie. She didn’t like seeing her son like that. This situation also helped make up Dottie’s mind. She realized she couldn’t be away from her son that long again. She also didn’t want to remove extra skin if it meant she had to stay in Houston for another month and so Dottie wanted to handle her weight loss on her own. She couldn’t go through another separation.

Cynthia’s journey took a setback. She gained more weight in the time she last saw Dr. Now and the doctor was getting to be frustrated with her. Dr. Now wanted her to see a therapist. Cynthia refused to see one. She said she could lose weight on her own. She said she was happy with the weight she has and that she could keep losing weight again. She also said she wasn’t a failure. Dr. Now had called her one and she had taken exception to it because she thought she was still doing very good. Cynthia had to be pushed into the therapy because she hadn’t seen the point of it, but the doctor had helped her.

The therapist had helped Cynthia see that she needs to ask for help. She’s been taking everything on herself and it wasn’t healthy for her. Cynthia also needed to incorporate her children into her weight loss story. She needs to show them how to be healthy and what to eat. Coming up with meal plans with them would also help her. Cynthia needs to give up the junk food and she can’t keep using her kids as an excuse. They want her to lose weight. They want her to get to the two hundred and so Cynthia has to go back to working out. She can’t keep saying she’s tired from driving. It’s driving. It’s easy.

Dottie went back to Dr. Now. She was supposed to lose weight and she gained twenty-six pounds. She’s been self-sabotaging. She’s been going back to unhealthy food since she last saw him and part of the problem is her husband. Her husband is drinking again. He’s been pretty unreliable because he’s been drinking and so Dottie has been taking care of Landon by herself. She needs help. She wasn’t getting it from the people she needed and the stress got to her. She tried telling her husband to throw away the food that tempts her. He refused to and they started arguing all the time.

It’s gotten so bad that Dottie even thought he was going to hit her. It was merely a matter of time until he does and so Dottie chose to leave her husband. She sorta had to. She couldn’t keep her son around him. Landon deserved better and he was staying with friends while Dottie packed up their things. Dottie had asked the cameras to be there when she left because she had been scared of her husband. She was afraid he might have tried to stop her and she didn’t want that to happen. Dottie couldn’t stay with her husband. It wasn’t good for her son or for her.

Dottie was smoking again. She had also turned back to her food addiction. She said food and smoking were the only things that helped her get through such a trying time and so she knows she’s gained weight. Dottie, much like Cynthia, said she couldn’t think of weight loss right now.

Both Dottie and Cynthia dropped out of the program.

THE END!
