Prince Charles’ Heartbreak Over Lockdown – Can’t See Prince Philip On Dad’s Birthday 99

Prince Charles is feeling some despair while in lockdown over not being able to see his family in person. Since the lockdown period started, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles have been staying at their Scottish home of Birkhall, and he has been keeping in touch with the outside world via video calls.

There are some key events that Prince Charles may very well miss in the coming days due to the lockdown. One is the Queen’s official birthday celebration, which will be celebrated on June 13th with a scaled-back ceremony. It is currently unknown whether Prince Charles will be able to attend, or exactly who from the royal family will be in attendance for the event.

In addition, Prince Philip will be turning 99 in a few days, and it’s likely the case that Prince Charles will have to wish his father a happy birthday via a video call. That has caused Prince Charles some angst, as he recently shared in a video call interview with Sky News. During the interview, Prince Charles was asked about what it was like being away from his family.

“Well, it’s terribly sad, let alone one’s friends,” Charles said. “But fortunately, at least you can speak to them on telephones and occasionally do this sort of thing. But it isn’t the same, is it? You really want to give people a hug.”

Prince Charles went on, speaking specifically about his father’s birthday. “He’s going to be 99 next week, so yes, or my grandchildren or anything. I’ve been doing the FaceTime, is all very well, but…”

Prince Philip has been staying with Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle since the lockdown began in March. Prince Charles Went on in the interview to sympathize with others who have been apart from their loved ones in their final days, which is a situation that many people are now unfortunately finding themselves in.

As you may be aware, Prince Charles tested positive for the virus, but has gotten past his illness after a period of isolation. “I was lucky in my case and got away with it quite lightly,” Charles said. “But I’ve had it, and I can so understand what other people have gone through.”

Prince Charles continued: “I feel particularly for those who have lost their loved ones and have been unable to be with them at the time. That, to me, is the most ghastly thing.”

One wonders how long it will be until Prince Charles can see Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip in person again. For now, video calls may just have to do. Be sure to check back here at CDL for more British royals news and updates.
