Prince Harry has taken yet another step to cut ties with the royal family. As royal watchers know, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from their roles as senior royals this past spring, and they subsequently moved to North America – first to Canada and then to Los Angeles.
Harry and Meghan announced that they were seeking independence from the royal family, and it seems that they meant in every way. Harry and Meghan have, by all accounts, been living an independent existence as best they can, and CDL recently reported that they have signed with a high-powered speakers agency, which seems to be how they plan to make an income going forward.
Well, now one of Prince William’s and Kate Middleton’s close ties with Prince Harry has been severed for good, and this seems to be Harry’s latest step away from the royal family.
Harry previously co-managed the Royal Foundation with Prince William and Kate Middleton, but Harry recently announced that his Endeavour Fund charity will no longer operate under the umbrella of the Royal Foundation.
The Endeavour Fund is one of Prince Harry’s beloved charities, and it helps wounded, injured, and sick ex-service personnel achieve their ambitions in the fields of sport and adventurous challenge.
The Endeavour Fund announced recently on Twitter that it is now under the umbrella of The Invictus Games Foundation, which is another of Prince Harry’s beloved organizations.
The Endeavour Fund tweeted: “Delighted to announce that @EndeavourFund has been transferred to a new home within @WeAreInvictus!”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle really seem to want to clear a path for themselves separate and apart from the Royal Foundation, and this is likely so that the couple can focus on causes and charities that they want to advance, without the family’s ongoing scrutiny in any way.
According to People, a source said that Harry had “long been expected to cut ties with the Royal Foundation because of the different path he and Meghan have undertaken from William and Kate.” So it seems that the split wasn’t too surprising, given Harry and Meghan’s desire to be independent.
It will be interesting to see how Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s new charitable organization – Archewell – takes shape going forward. It’s currently not expected to launch until 2021, but the buzz is that we’ll see the couple involve the foundation with causes such as environmental issues, and racial and gender equality.
Harry and Meghan seem determined to be autonomous in every way – and they’re certainly making that happen in good time. Be sure to check back here at CDL for more British royals updates and news.
