British royals news reveals that Queen Elizabeth got out and about this past weekend, making her first public appearance since the lockdown period began in the UK. The Queen, who is an enthusiastic equestrian, rode around Home Park near Windsor Castle.
The photos, which were released on Sunday, show Queen Elizabeth riding a pony named Fern, according to a palace news release. The 94-year-old Queen loves horses and horse racing, and she apparently decided that it was time to get out and enjoy a ride.
The Queen wore a brightly colored head scarf, an olive tweed jacket, and she appeared to be enjoying the ride without a helmet. The official Royal Family Twitter account posted pictures of the Queen’s ride, along with the following caption: “The Queen is pictured riding Fern – a 14- year-old Fell Pony – in Windsor Home Park this weekend.”
In a separate post, the Royal Family Twitter account shared some historic photos of the queen with horses past, captioned as follows: “Her Majesty has enjoyed riding since childhood and is closely involved with the welfare of the horses she owns for breeding, riding, and racing.”
As an insider told People Magazine, “She [the Queen] loves to be out walking her dogs and still riding her horses regularly. The way of life in the country gives back so much, especially if you love animals as she does.”
Queen Elizabeth has been in semi-isolation at home for the past 10 weeks, even celebrating her April 21st birthday with her family via video conference. The Queen is also celebrating the 67th anniversary of her coronation, which occurred on June 2, 1953. Be sure to check back here at CDL for more British royals news and updates.
