British royals news reveals that Sophie Wessex has been a member of the royal family for quite some time now, so she’s certainly not new to game, but it seems that she might be filling a key role for the public now that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are no longer senior members of the royal family. Countess Sophie, who is married to Prince Edward, seems to be making quite the impression on people, including Queen Elizabeth.
Even though Countess Sophie has stated previously that she hasn’t been doing more royal engagements since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped away from their royal duties, it seems that she’s nevertheless becoming more “front and center” amongst the press and the public as she continues to tend to her royal duties in an ongoing fashion.
Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty, has said that Countess Sophie has proven to be “a royal key worker” and that “she is making a difference in a very understated, very ’Sophie’ way.”
Countess Sophie is also said to do some of her work on her own personal time without expecting kudos or congratulation for what she’s done. As People reports, Sophie has been doing weekly work with caterers and party planners to produce meals for National Health Service workers, and that there’s no “fanfare” associated with the visits.
It is also said that Queen Elizabeth considers Sophie to be one of her favorites, and that the Queen routinely invites her to church and even invites Sophie’s widower father to Balmoral Castle in the summers. It seems that Queen Elizabeth appreciates Countess Sophie’s close association with and loyalty to her family.
Countess Sophie married Prince Edward back in 1999 after a lengthy engagement. The couple met at a sporting event when Sophie was working in public relations. Sophie has a middle-class background in a family that was disconnected from the royals.
As a friend has said, “she wasn’t born to be the eldest daughter of a duke and duchess to find a marvelous marriage and polish her tiaras.”
Prince Edward and Countess Sophie have two children: Lady Louise Windsor (16) and James Viscount Severn (12), and they are said to be very hands-on parents who are “regulars at the car pickup lie and scout group meetings.” Sophie is said to have a “simple connection with people” and to get along with people easily.
At any rate, it seems that we might be hearing about and seeing Sophie Wessex more, now that there seems to be a void to fill with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure.
