The Bold and the Beautiful spoilers recap for Friday, January 3, reveal that Bill Spencer (Don Diamont) arrived at the cabin to visit with his granddaughter Beth Spencer (River Davidson and Madeline Valdez). He and Katie Logan (Heather Tom) and Will Spencer (Finnegan George) had a quiet Christmas at home, so he was anxious to see Beth.
Bill wanted to know how it was going for Hope working with Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) on a daily basis and co-parenting Douglas Forrester (Henry Joseph Samiri) with him. Hope reported that lately it had been a bit easier. Bill asked Hope to let him know if Thomas ever gets out of line, and that he didn’t trust him at all.
Hope said that she had her eyes open when it came to Thomas, and that if Thomas tries anything, then she’d see it coming. Bill stated that she should know that he has eyes on Thomas, and that if Thomas does anything to try to hurt her, Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton), Beth, or Douglas, then he’ll handle Thomas his way.
Meanwhile, at Steffy Forrester’s (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) house, she, Liam, and Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes) met for a status update. Steffy noted that they were surprised to see Zoe at the Forrester Christmas dinner, and Liam asked Zoe to promise him that she was going to stay objective.
Zoe reported that she truly believed that Thomas had moved on from Hope, and that he really cared about her now. She noted that she had every reason to stay objective because her heart was on the line, but that she was completely convinced that Thomas’ feelings about Hope were behind him.
This relieved Steffy, but Liam remained unconvinced, and he took off, saying he was going to do damage control.
Next, at the Forrester estate, Shauna Fulton (Denise Richards) and Thomas caught up. Thomas revealed to Shauna that his vision of the future was her with Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and himself with Hope.
This surprised Shauna, who wondered about his new relationship with Zoe. Thomas reported that he and Zoe were just having fun.
He went on to say that he was playing the long game and going for friendship with Hope first. Shauna said that he was taking a risk telling her about his long-range plans, since she could easily tell Ridge.
Thomas then said that she wouldn’t tell Ridge because if she does, then Ridge might realize that Brooke Forrester (Katherine Kelly Lang) was right and reconcile with her.
In the Forrester CEO office, Steffy met with Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) about some designs sketches that Sally had done and that Steffy didn’t particularly like. Hope then came in and Steffy wanted to know how things were going between her and Thomas.
Hope stated that she was glad that Thomas was focused on someone else, and that she really wanted to believe that he was moving on.
Sally then exited, and Steffy noted that working with Sally had made her realize just how much time they spend with their designers. Hope said that at first she was uncomfortable with Thomas, but lately it seems like his energy is directed toward Zoe, which Steffy was glad to hear.
Steffy then said that she no longer believed that Thomas was a threat to Hope or to Hope’s relationship with Liam.
Meanwhile, in the design office, Thomas was sketching when Liam came in. Liam told Thomas that he may have the whole town convinced that he’s making up for past mistakes, but that he could see the real Thomas. Thomas insisted that he was no longer a threat to Hope, and that Liam didn’t need to protect Hope from him.
Thomas then needled Liam about not being married to Hope, and he openly wondered why Liam hadn’t “put a ring on it,” then he went on about how Steffy is like Liam’s “Brooke” and is the one he always goes back to, and perhaps that’s why he hasn’t asked Hope to marry him. This made Liam angry and very unsettled.
Thomas continued on a big monologue about how if Liam marries Hope, then he’s marrying into Hope, Douglas, and him. Liam then accused Thomas of still wanting Hope and trying to fool everyone about it. Thomas said that if Liam kept talking like this, then he’d just hand Hope right over to him, and that he was a “weak, vegan, computer geek guy” who wanted to be needed.
Thomas said that Steffy and Kelly Spencer (Zoe Pennington) need Liam, while Hope and Douglas needed him. Then, after a bunch of insults, Thomas said that he would eventually be the top dog of the Forrester family and of the company and that Liam should look into his eyes because “these are the eyes of your executioner” and “treat my sister well or you’ll be relegated to nothing.”
Liam just let Thomas keep talking and eventually Thomas said that he would celebrate the day he takes the kids to Liam’s gravesite. Liam calmly asked if that was a threat, and Thomas confidently responded “yes.”
