The Chi Premiere Recap 06/21/20: Season 3 Episode 1 “Foe Nem”

In tonight’s The Chi season 3 episode 1 called “Foe Nem,” as per the Showtime synopsis “A wedding alters Kevin and Kiesha’s lives. Emmett juggles his business and his growing family. Ronnie struggles to find his way. Jake’s estranged brother Trig lands back in town on a mission.

Keisha is late for her stepmom, Nina’s wedding, we see her running through the grass to the ceremony. Jada is late for her friend’s wedding. Dre gives Keisha and Kevin a piece of gold jewelry to commemorate the day. Kevin leaves the wedding, he gets on a bus, puts on the gold chain that Dre gave him. He heads to a small chapel and comes face to face with Ronnie, who asks him to vouch for him to attend Brandon’s funeral service, he says no. Brandon’s mother gets up and speaks to the people who are there. It is very sad to hear her talk about her son, Kevin is crying and so are many others.

Ronnie is on the church steps drinking when the door opens. He steps away as Kevin and the other pallbearers walk out of the church with Brandon’s body, they put him in a hearse. Otis drops by the chapel gives his condolences to Brandon’s mother, she tells him that her son never mentioned him and she wants nothing from him. Kevin tries to give his condolences, Brandon’s mother tells him to get the f out of dodge, Chicago doesn’t love anybody.

Back at the wedding, everyone is partying and taking photos. Kevin is upset with how Brandon’s mom treated him. Emmett tries to console him.

Emmett is gone to work, Jada walks into the kitchen, he tells her to call him next time she needs a ride somewhere.

Inside the reception, everyone’s enjoying their dinner. Keisha tells Kevin that she doesn’t like Dre. Time for the first dance, Dre, and Nina gets up to dance. Kevin heads to the back kitchen, Ebony is there, they pour some wine on the floor in honor of Brandon.

Keisha goes outside for some fresh air, Emmett follows her, she tells him that she doesn’t want to go away, she wants to stay here. He tells her she is just scared of what is out there, but it will be good for her. She asks if he is scared, he says Brandon is gone, his job is to take care of Kevin now. Then he says that he is scared too.

Ronnie goes home and finds a notice from the Sheriff, his place is locked up and his possessions are on the lawn.

At the reception, Dre gets everyone up and dancing, even the kids. Keisha and Kevin are actually having fun.

Otis has a meeting, it ends up in a shooting, Trig shows up and kills the guy Otis was meeting with. Trig wants his little brother.

Emmett is home, Tiffany is there, she is smoking and he joins in. Meanwhile, Dre and Nina have their wedding night together. The next morning, room service arrives, the two heave breakfast in bed. Dre picks up the paper and it says that Otis is doing well in the mayor race.

Kevin and his friends are smoking weed, Keisha is leaving and tells them the place better not smell like weed when she gets back. Keisha goes to Emmett’s place, she brings him money from Nina. Tiffany tells her that she doesn’t mind her coming by their house, but she doesn’t want her coming back looking like a hooker.

Trig goes to see his mother and finds out that his mother sold his little brother for five thousand dollars. Trig asks her to go to the courthouse with him, he will pay ten thousand dollars to get his little brother back.

Kevin and his friends try to clean the place up, they spray Febreze everywhere to take out the smell. Girls show up to chill with them.

Keisha is at a bus stop, its dark. Ronnie walks by her, he is intoxicated, the two give each other an awkward look. Then we see the bus coming, he pulls up to the stop, there is a jacket on the ground and Keisha’s cell phone smashed, Kevin is texting her to ask when she is coming home.
