The Crocodile, The Mushroom, and the Sun have all made it into the finale. The trio have given great performances after great performances for the last several weeks and now it’s time to determine the winner of the competition. “The Masked Singer” was at an end. The winner of the competition will go on to win the Golden Mask trophy. They also receive bragging rights for having fooled everyone for this long and so it’s been a fun journey. The contestants don’t take themselves too seriously and neither do the judges. They all joked around. They all laughed and Ken, for one, started the night wearing three crowns because he thought he was king. He did after all correctly guessed all three unmaskings last time. And he wanted to continue his record tonight.
The Crocodile was the first to come out. The Crocodile revealed he grew up poor and he wasn’t always able to afford the things he wanted. He had to save up to buy things. He used his savings to buy his first record and it was a Journey record. He loves the band. He always will and he sang their song “Open Arms” tonight. He sang it to Jenny. She helped him believe in himself and so she also received a gift from him. She found a gift under her seat. It was a plastic angel that looked a little bit like her and she said its just as plastic as her as well. Which got a few laughs. Jenny loves her gift and she like her fellow judges is still trying to guess whose behind the Crocodile mask. They know he made a career in music because he revealed so and he’s also a father.
The Crocodile revealed he had kids as in plural. He said he loves knowing he can take care of his family with his music and that meant he was a professional. He wasn’t the only one either. The Mushroom performed next. In his own video, he revealed that people dance to his music in the supermarket and so his music is on the radio too. He’s a known name. He’s also a parent. He revealed he has one child whose a daughter and that his daughter doesn’t even know that he’s doing the show. The Mushroom is hoping to surprise her with his unmasking later on. He knows that she couldn’t possible guess it was him because he’s been mixing things up from the start and he lives to surprise everyone.
Mushroom gave a gift to Nicole. He loves Nicole’s compliments the best because she’s been sweet to him and so her positivity was rewarded. The Mushroom gave her ice cream. It was still cold when Nicole opened it and she loved it. She loved her gift. It is the season for gifts and the Sun still has a gift of her own to hand out. She performed next. She didn’t reveal she had kids in her video. She did reveal that she’s been performing since she was a child herself and that she grew up in the industry. She also mentioned a special connection to a guy who proved that love conquers all. The Sun performed the song “The Story” tonight and it got people teary-eyed. They always walk away from her performances feeling emotional and tonight wasn’t any different.
The Sun gave a gift to Robin tonight. She gave him some mistletoe and she said it was a thank you for all of his compliments throughout the competition. This was the last part for the gifts, but the unmaskings began. The first person to be unmasked tonight was the Crocodile. The Crocodile came in third in the competition and there were several guesses about who he could be. Ken thought he was Nick Lachey. Jordan Knight was Nicole’s choice. Only Robin produced Jordan’s solo album and he knew that wasn’t Jordan’s voice. He thought the Crocodile could be Howie D. They all thought the Crocodile could be someone in a boy band and Jenny’s guess wasn’t any different. She was the only who stayed with her original guess. She believed the Crocodile to be Nick Carter and she won bonus points when she turned out to be right.
The Golden Ear is still in play with the judges. Jenny’s bonus points could win her the trophy and so it was up to the remaining judges to step it up. They had to correct the next two unmaskings correctly. The person coming in second in the competition was the Mushroom. The guesses for the Mushroom had been all over the place and up first was Jenny. Jenny guessed Maxwell at the start. She’s since changed her mind and tonight she thought the Mushroom could be Ne-Yo. Jenny wasn’t the only one to change her mind. Ken changed his when he went back on his earlier guess. He now thinks the Mushroom is Pharell. Nicole thought he was Aloe Blacc because of the time clock clue because his biggest hit was “Wake Me Up”. It was such a good guess that even Robin felt the same.
Two people thought the Mushroom was Aloe Blacc and they both turned out to be right when the Mushroom was revealed to be Aloe Blacc. He joined the show because music connects them all. He chose his costume with his daughter in mind because he wanted to borrow her energy and he came to close to winning. He came in second. But the Sun came in first. The Sun had one of the best voices that the judges had ever heard and the audience must have thought the same because they voted for her. They voted to name the Sun as the winner of the Golden Mask trophy. Now, the judges have had a hard time guessing who the Sun could be and there were a bunch of guesses along the way. Jenny didn’t go with her first impression.
Jenny thought the Sun was LeAnne Rimes. Ken thought the Sun was Mandy Moore. Nicole also thought the Sun was LeAnne Rimes. Robin meanwhile thought the Sun was Katherine McPhee. Which was Nicole’s first guess before she walked it back, but the Sun turned out to be LeAnne. And so it’s a good thing Jenny won the Golden Ear because she definitely earned it this season.
