Tonight on FOX their new medical drama The Resident airs with an all-new Tuesday, January 7, 2020, episode and we have your The Resident recap below. In his first move as the new Chief of Surgery, Cain puts the doctors on a commission-based pay system, which causes Devon’s new intern to agree to a procedure before weighing the risks. Meanwhile, Mina struggles with taking care of Adaku’s baby and Bell’s supplement company get its big break.”

Conrad interviews for a new job. Things aren’t looking good for him as the hospital he could end up working at doesn’t offer the quality of care he hopes to give.
Aduku’s baby wakes Mina for a bottle. After Mina feeds her a little bit she spits up all over her.
Devon starts his day as a second-year resident. He receives two interns, one he insults because she looks older. They get to work fielding patients in the ED. Meanwhile, Bell feels strange not being in a meeting with all the other surgeons and board members.
Nic meets with a patient named Finn she knows well. He has just published a book and dedicated it to her. Unfortunately, she has bad news for him. His lung function is deteriorating. Finn takes it well, in fact, he has something he wants to do before he dies and it involves space travel. He wants Conrad to be with him. No calls Conrad to give him the news.
Conrad meets up with Nic and Finn. Finn tells him that he wants to go zero gravity with a company that will help him get out of his chair and experience something before he dies. Conrad is in!
Devon is having a tough time with his interns as one of them has ordered a bronchoscopy that is completely unnecessary and lands the patient in the hospital due to aspiration ammonia.
AJ and Nick give the patient great news. She doesn’t have cancer, her immunotherapy is working but they want to know if she would like to undergo a procedure where they will clean out the infection in her lungs. It’s extremely risky and she could bleed to death, her lung may also never fully expand again.
Conrad’s father comes to see Bell to talk about Conrad since Conrad won’t tell him anything. Conrad’s father is prepared to go to the legal route to clear his son’s name.
Cain finds AJ to discuss the surgery that AJ is due to perform. Cain tells him to keep his patient alive at all costs so it doesn’t make the hospital look bad. Cain also does not want AJ to mention a DNR to his patient.
Devens interns patient only gets worse. He is now having a heart attack. One of the interns also notices a rash on Devon‘s neck. Meanwhile, AJ offers mean Mina some advice when it comes to the baby. She will probably keep her formula down if she gets more snuggle time.
Conrad’s father finds Kim in the men’s room. He confronts him about Conrad, but Kim has words of his own. He knows what Conrad’s father has done and where the bodies are buried and he will take him out.
Conrad and Finn finally get to experience zero gravity in their flight. Finn is thrilled. Suddenly he is in duress, Conrad rushes to him. Finn laughs hysterically. He’s been planning that all day. Conrad laughs too.
AJ and Mina run into some trouble in surgery. Conrad also has trouble when a guy they are with goes into cardiac arrest. They grab the defibrillator and get to work. Conrad manages to save him with the help of everybody around him.
On the ground Conrad and Finn talk. Conrad tells him how happy he was and how he really doesn’t feel like he has a purpose. Finn tells him he needs to get mad and start kicking ass.
Cain catches up with AJ. He is mad that the patient signed a DNR although she did come through surgery alive but on a vent temporarily. AJ questions are my code and what happened to him as a surgeon. He took a secret oath to protect patients not to worry about the bottom line. Cain tells him he better be careful or he’ll lose his job.
Nic tells Devon all of his symptoms are from stress! Meanwhile, Cain tracks down Bell after he is on a shopping network for supplements he has decided to back. Cain wants in on the profit. Mina snuggles the baby and she stops crying. Conrad tells his dad. They are both ready to fight.
