At the precinct, John gets a visit from a lawyer who tells him that his father has left him something in his will. He didn’t even know his dad was dead. They haven’t spoken in 35 years. His Dennis left him $14 and an old Chevelle.
The officers report to the morning briefing. The chief tells them it’s follow up day, a day dedicated to cases that are about to be put on the back burner unless they find new information. John is called on but he’s in a different world still thinking about the news he was delivered.
John and Harper head to a local store to talk to a man who was robbed, his wife was also killed.
Tim and Lucy head to a local bakery. They are there to visit a former gang member who was tied up a couple of nights ago, most likely from his former gang because he left. They hear a ruckus in the kitchen and head back there. Some of the gangs are there but pretend to be paying a friendly visit. After they leave Lucy offers the former gang member some protection but he denies it all and tells them he hast to get back to work.
Jackson and Angela are on the hunt for a missing sculpture that cost thousands, stolen from a rich couple’s yard.
John has to go and see the Chevelle with Harper. They talk to the man that drove it there. He’s a wise-ass, being patronizing to John. He punches John who puts him down on the hood. And then he reveals that he’s his brother. After bringing him to the precinct, John’s office to have lunch with his newfound brother. But his brother turns him down and says he’s heading back to Arizona.
Tim and Lucy get word that their former gang member has been assaulted and he’s at the hospital. They had to the hospital and talk to the man’s girlfriend. She tells them that her boyfriend just wants to live a normal life but the game won’t leave them alone they want him to laundering money through the bakery.
Jackson and Angela continue on their hunt for the statue. Well knocking door-to-door they hear a man yelling for help. They head to the backyard and find a man lying underneath the statue that looks like a piece of poop.
John and Harper head back to the precinct and I’ve given word that the suspect in the liquor store robbery is in custody and it’s a woman. They are shocked. After meeting with her they realize she isn’t the robber but received a stolen scratch ticket from the robber.
John works with the young girl, a stripper, who they thought was the robber to identify the real robber. When they leave the interrogation room he sees his brother Pete. His brother apologizes to him before hitting on the woman John’s been working with. His brother and the woman leave for sushi but before they go he asks John for money.
John his home where he gets ready for a date with his old flame, Grace. Meanwhile, Tim gets word that he is he on the list for Sergeant. The chief tells him he can start in two weeks because he knows a precinct where Tim would be needed. Tim wants to think about it. Lucy’s face drops.
After sharing a sweet moment with Greece, John is interrupted by the screeching tires from his driveway. It looks like his brother came back and stole the Chevelle.
John in grease head to the local motel where Pete says you’re staying. Grace asked the girl that Pete’s with go for a walk with John and Peter. They talk about their dad and how he left John but overcompensated with Pete but still continued to drink. He tells John he should have a car after all. He also has something else for him. He comes back out with their dad‘s ashes and tells John he should have half it’s only fair!
Tim and Lucy make a pitstop in the bad part of town to talk to the leader of a gang. They try to get him to let the former gang member go but he isn’t willing.
John and Harper catch a lead on their scratch to get the robber. Meanwhile, Jackson and Angela, she’s down the man who is responsible for stealing the expensive statue. John and Harper arrive at a train station with her suspect are. He tries to make a run for it. He has a gun and scares the entire place. He takes a baby hostage. John has to talk him down.
Tim works a clever angle and made sure that all of the police in LA go to the bakery where the former gang member works. Now the leader of the gang won’t be bothering him. Tim also shares with Lucy that he isn’t taking the job, he still needs to finish training her.
John is on the phone with Grace. They talk about their date the night before when John hears somebody steal the Chevelle. It’s Pete he has stolen the car again.
