The Young and the Restless Review: Thursday, September 24 – Nick Crushes Summer's Wedding – Hilary Haunts – Chelsea Warns Billy

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers updates and review for Thursday, September 24, teases that some great Genoa City drama’s on the way. At The Grand Phoenix, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) tells Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) that he knows she feels the same way he does about Summer Newman’s (Hunter King) engagement. This is only going to lead to heartache and another divorce, so Nick views it as a waste of time.

Nick pushes for Phyllis to unite with him on this so they can get through to Summer. Phyllis insists that Summer’s a grownup who makes her own decisions. Summer doesn’t need their permission to marry Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).

Nick argues that Phyllis can’t expect him to be OK with this. Phyllis just wants Nick to be the amazing, sensitive and understanding man that she knows he is.

Summer rejoins “Phick” and wants to talk like mature adults. She praises Kyle’s wonderful qualities and has never been happier. If Summer had to imagine a perfect relationship, this is it. Nick warns that relationships aren’t perfect and thinks it sounds like Summer’s talked herself into some romanticized version of reality.

Nick reflects on Summer’s problems with Austin Travers (Matthew Atkinson), who cheated on her. Summer insists that was different, but Nick launches into a speech about Kyle securing a liver donation from Summer for Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle).

Nick wonders if Kyle’s even divorced yet, but Summer doesn’t see what it matters since it’s just a piece of paper.

Furthermore, Summer feels her parents are both hypocrites. “Kyle and I? We are not you two,” Summer tells Phyllis and Nick. After Summer mentions the house Nick’s building for them, she wonders if he was secretly hoping “Skyle” would crash and burn before they made it that far.

Nick’s silence speaks volumes, so Summer says that’s really good to know.

Phyllis stop Summer from leaving and gets Nick to confirm “Skyle’s” destruction isn’t what he was hoping for. Phyllis contends that Summer’s impulsive and gets that from her mom.

Just because they support what appears to be a responsible relationship, Phyllis doesn’t think Summer should get upset because they failed to throw a parade over this engagement.

Phyllis points out that Nick was younger than Summer when he married Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) – and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) was against that.

After Phyllis pushes to celebrate joy and loving each other, Summer notes that she’s made a lot of mistakes. She’s learned those don’t have to define her and praises Nick for always being his own man.

On Thursday’s Y&R episode, Summer’s proud to be Nick’s daughter, so he gets choked up over his “Supergirl.” Even so, Nick can’t pretend to be on board with this engagement. An emotional Summer excuses herself to go meet up with Kyle.

At the clinic, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) is glad to see Amanda Sinclair’s (Mishael Morgan) heart so full. They talk about Devon Hamilton (Bryton James) being helpful and how Amanda’s made plans to meet with him again. Nate notes that Devon never hated Amanda; he was just trying to move on.

After the topic of Nate’s dead fiancée comes up, Amanda invites Nate to open up about the loss of Carolyn. Nate describes Carolyn and the future he wanted with her. They had a deep connection, so Amanda compares it to Devon and Hilary Curtis Hamilton (Mishael Morgan).

Talk turns to Nate being unable to save Hilary and the baby. It haunted Nate for a long time – and he initially worried he wouldn’t be able to save Devon from his grief either.

Nate fears there may come a point when this becomes a problem for Devon. He remembers how Devon and Elena were nearly driven apart by Devon’s grief before. Nate doesn’t want to see that happen to Elena again.

Amanda notes that Nate’s very protective of Elena, but he corrects that he’s protective of Elena AND Devon. Amanda promises she has no intention of doing harm. Nate knows Amanda’s heart is in the right place – and Amanda vows to be careful.

At Devon and Elena Dawson’s (Brytni Sarpy) penthouse, he’s sorry for only sending a text instead of fully explaining why he changed his mind about helping Amanda.

Devon should’ve trusted Elena to understand, but she notes that he didn’t and thinks they both know why. This whole situation with Amanda really caught Devon by surprise, though he knew the twin part would probably be true.

Elena understands, but this affects her, too. Devon assures Elena she’s the most important person in his life, so Elena pushes him to let her in. She wants to be there for Devon and asks what he meant about his talk with Amanda being cathartic.

Devon insists it brought back a lot of memories, so Elena urges him to tell her everything.

Devon tells Elena about watching GC Buzz with Amanda. He was both happy and sad as he was reminded of Hilary. Devon thinks all this has been a test – perhaps it’s God’s way of showing Devon that he’s moved on. It’s been hard, but now Devon’s life is with Elena.

Over at Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) place, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) talks about Adam being close to Alyssa Montalvo (Maria DiDomenico) once upon a time – then Adam screwed her over. Adam mostly plays dumb, but he does note that he heard Alyssa had some meetings with Billy.

“Where is she? What did you do with her?” Billy eventually demands to know. Adam says he has no idea, but Billy shouts that he’s lying. Later, Adam snarks about Billy’s only evidence being Alyssa’s empty room.

Billy knows Alyssa wouldn’t have just packed up and left without telling him. Alyssa wanted the truth to come out just as much as Billy did.

“You wouldn’t know the truth if it walked up and it bit you,” Adam insists. He argues that Billy’s just trying to score clickbait for the media company Billy’s mother gave him – though he does give Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) credit for having the good sense to hire Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) to help.

Billy suggests that Adam’s “scared to death” and spiraling out of control. He mentions Adam committing murder at 11 years old and assures Adam that he knows about the cover-up. Billy contends that Adam’s gotten away with things for a long time, but not anymore.

“Time’s up, you smug son of a bitch,” Billy says. He intends to prove Adam and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) are as “guilty as sin.” Adam thinks Billy has nothing, but Billy asks if he’d like to put a wager on that. Adam declines since Billy can’t handle gambling, so Billy circles back to Alyssa and where she is.

The argument escalates as Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) walks in and demands that they stop. Chelsea insists Adam’s already told Billy that he doesn’t know anything about Alyssa leaving town.

She downplays everything and contends that Billy’s trying to use his “fancy new toy” Chance Comm for revenge. Billy will get lawsuits and bankruptcy if he moves forward according to Chelsea.

Billy argues that Adam’s always been Chelsea’s worst decision. “And that makes me sad,” Billy admits. Later, Chelsea points out that Billy’s more determined than ever to go after Adam.

She’s upset over Adam handling it all himself. Chelsea doesn’t need protection and doesn’t like being shut out. Not knowing is killing her, so Chelsea asks if Adam made Alyssa disappear.

Chelsea assures Adam she’s not trying to judge him, but they have to be partners in all things. Adam admits he couldn’t let Billy get too close to corroborating Alyssa’s story. “What did you do?” a worried Chelsea asks.

Back at the clinic, Elena updates Nate on her conversation with Devon. She’s aloof with Nate and feels he set all this in motion. Devon’s whole world just got turned upside down again, so Elena lashes out.

Later, Elena calms down and knows she shouldn’t be taking this out on Nate. “I’m fine. Really. And Devon and I are going to be OK,” Elena says unconvincingly.

Back at Devon’s place, he has flashbacks of his romance with Hilary – all the highs and lows. In a booth at the coffeehouse, Amanda smiles over old GC Buzz footage of Hilary.

At The Grand Phoenix, Billy takes a call from Alyssa and is relieved to know she’s all right. Billy confirms he’s ready to run the story and wants Alyssa to send him the proof. On Thursday’s Young and the Restless episode, Billy hangs up and raises a glass to Adam’s long overdue day of reckoning.

We’ll pass along updates as other Y&R news becomes available. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Billy and Adam’s war is just getting started, so stay tuned. CDL’s your hotspot for the latest Young and the Restless spoilers, updates and news.
