The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) has been kept separate from Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) cancer story. Sharon still hasn’t filled Adam in on her breast cancer diagnosis, but Adam’s been busy anyway. For Adam, the focus has been on that Newman CEO seat and how dirty he was willing to play to get it.
Of course, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) ultimately revealed that Adam was the one who killed AJ Montalvo. The revelation took away Adam’s blackmail plot and will soon leave him reeling over a memory flood. Adam’s bound to have total recall at some point, which should bring guilt and trauma.
It’s easy to imagine Adam pushing Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) away in the aftermath. Could this lead to a romantic shakeup for Adam? It’s a possibility as Adam once again wrestles with who he is and the darkness inside him.
What about Sharon? Could she have a romantic shakeup in her future, too? Everyone on “Team Sharon” is just concentrating on getting to the other side. It’s been a rough ordeal, especially since Sharon’s used to being so independent. Sharon appreciates her loved ones, but they’ve all been hovering and leaving her on edge at times.
Sharon and her family just want everything to get back to normal, but it may not be that simple. Cancer is an incredibly difficult experience that can change a person. Sharon may not be exactly the same Sharon she was before.
It’s clear that all of this has taken a toll on Sharon. Bouncing back may be harder than Sharon thinks – even just from a mental perspective. It may be hard for Sharon to connect with Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) or anyone else who was so caught up in this cancer crisis.
After Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) was stabbed by Amanda Sinclair’s (Mishael Morgan) ex, Ripley Turner (Christian Keyes), there was talk about Victoria tying that trauma to Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) in her mind. It wasn’t really Billy’s fault, but Victoria’s brain still linked him to her traumatic event for a while.
Could Y&R writers do something similar with Sharon? Perhaps Sharon will associate Rey and even Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) with this terrible ordeal. Sharon’s mind has just been “cancer, cancer, cancer” on a loop for months. It could be tough for Sharon to find herself again – much like it’ll be hard for Adam to focus on his own new sense of self.
If The Young and the Restless writers wanted to give “Shadam” another shot, this would be a good opportunity to bring wounded souls together. Saving each other – that’s Sharon and Adam’s whole thing! Since Adam hasn’t been part of this cancer story at all, Sharon could be drawn to him. Adam would be a way to shake everything off and move on.
As for Adam, he’s always felt a strong pull to Sharon. It wouldn’t be hard for Y&R writers to rev that up again. Sharon and Adam’s intense bond could return as they both cope from trauma. It’s an intriguing possibility to ponder as we await new episodes!
