The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers reveal that there’s still a major mystery to solve on the CBS soap – and it involves the matter of who shot Adam Newman (Mark Grossman). Of course, most people don’t do their own dirty work in Genoa City, so we certainly have to consider the possibility that someone was hired for the job.
Let’s keep that hitman possibility in mind and consider some other crucial clues. It’s becoming increasingly obvious that Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) is being framed for the shooting. A blue earbud was bound at the crime scene – and Billy’s blue earbud was missing its match.
During the week of November 23-27, Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) will confront Billy about the bullet pulled from Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz). It looks like that bullet was fired from Billy’s gun, so the evidence will be mounting against him.
Of course, Billy is the first real suspect in this case. Rey grilled Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan), but Billy is the one who quickly became the main potential shooter.
There’s no way Billy will be proven as the real thing in the end. The Young and the Restless has to have some sort of twist coming. Soaps don’t just reveal the end of a mystery at the beginning of the story!
We have to consider who might target Adam AND frame Billy. The point is this – there simply aren’t any characters who would want to kill Adan AND frame Billy for it. Adam and Billy don’t have a common enemy who is that angry!
That narrows things down a bit, especially when you look at that Billy angle. Adam was awfully quick to point the finger at Billy, who published the expose at Chancellor Communications and even tried to mow Adam down with his vehicle last year.
Remember how Adam went digging around Billy’s suite to look for the evidence against him? What about that recent break-in at Victoria Newman’s (Amelia Heinle) place? There are some intriguing puzzle pieces that could point to Adam getting his hands on Billy’s gun for a setup.
What if Adam himself is the shooter – at least through a hitman he hired? Since Adam was the intended target, no one would suspect that Adam hired someone to shoot him with Billy’s gun. Y&R fans have to think about the dark mindset that Adam was in at the time.
Adam was plotting a deadly attack in the CEO office at Newman Tower. He was prepared to kill Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and potentially the rest of his family, too. This could easily have been a murder-suicide mission.
Adam might’ve given the green light on the deadly Newman Tower plot, then planned to die by a bullet from Billy’s gun. Maybe Adam wanted to leave this world getting revenge on all his enemies.
On the other hand, Adam might’ve just wanted this hired gun to wound him. The goal might’ve simply been getting Billy accused of attempted murder.
Adam couldn’t have anticipated Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) showing up and getting in the way, but someone wanted Adam to take a shot and for Billy to pay the price.
Wouldn’t getting Billy accused of this be an easy path to revenge? It sounds like exactly the type of twisted plan Adam would come up with. Do you think the shooter was someone Adam himself hired? Was Adam’s plan to frame Billy all along? When you analyze the crime the one person with means, motive and opportunity to have pulled it off was Adam Newman!
