The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that the CBS soap may need another love interest for Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) down the road. Chelsea vowed to stand by Adam Newman (Mark Grossman), but trust is becoming more and more of a problem.
Chelsea feels like Adam should trust her enough to let her in the loop on his plans, but Adam feels like Chelsea should trust him to handle things.
At the moment, it seems like Y&R has put Adam and Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) reunion on ice. The time isn’t right since Sharon’s still dealing with her breast cancer battle, but Sharon and Adam could indeed find their way back to each other down the road.
It’s telling that Sharon is still in Adam’s corner despite how much pain his past actions caused for Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind).
Sharon sees the goodness in Adam – unlike Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson), who sees Adam as a devious dirtbag and keeps ranting about how Chelsea deserves better. There have been some nods to Billy and Chelsea’s history in some of their latest scenes, so this is interesting.
Could The Young and the Restless be laying the groundwork for Billy and Chelsea to reunite? Now we know what you’re thinking. Things are beyond tense between Chelsea and Billy right now.
However, we also have to remember why: because Billy’s trying to paint Adam as a monster. The only reason Chelsea’s angry with Billy is because she doesn’t believe that.
If Chelsea were to agree with Billy eventually, that’d make all their tension evaporate. Chelsea would be apologetic for not seeing what Billy saw, and Billy would just be glad Chelsea finally came around.
If Chelsea turns against Adam due to a Sharon reunion or whatever other mistake is inevitably looming, that could change the game.
After Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) was stabbed, Billy and Chelsea shared a moment where they bonded as Newman outsiders. Maybe Y&R will revisit that idea at some point. Who else is Y&R going to put Chelsea with? Billy actually makes sense when you think about it.
Chelsea’s relationship with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) was dull and pretty unpopular. There’s no point in a “Chick” redo. It would just be more of the same if Chelsea wound up with Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso).
Rey is a nice guy, but he’s basically another version of Nick. Chelsea works best with men who have a bit of an edge.
Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) is single, but he doesn’t seem like someone Chelsea would really waste her time on. Her fake flirting didn’t mean anything. Chelsea needs someone a bit older who’s out of that whole millennial influencer scene.
That leaves Billy the risktaker who believes he understands Chelsea better than anyone. Billy feels like he knows what’s best for Chelsea and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey).
Just imagine the potential for drama if Chelsea and Billy get back together. Adam would hate it, Nick would hate it, Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) would hate it and so on.
Y&R could even stir up a Victoria and Chelsea battle due to Johnny Abbott (Holden and Ryan Hare) being Chelsea’s bio son with Billy. If Billy let Chelsea and Johnny bond, Victoria would probably lose it! The Young and the Restless could get so much mileage out of rebooting Billy and Chelsea’s romance.
