The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that the show needs to pick a firm direction for Billy Abbott’s (Jason Thompson) love life. Billy’s been working closely with Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) and there’s a nice spark, but what about Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan)? Since Emmy Award winning Billy doesn’t seem quite over Amanda, let’s look a few reasons why Billy should be paired up with Lily instead.
1) Amanda Sinclair and Billy Abbott already tried the romantic route
Amanda and Billy spent night after night getting to know each other. It felt like it was building somewhere despite Billy’s claims that they were just friends. Even now, Y&R’s playing this strange connection following their kiss.
If the show’s not going to dive in and give Billy a real future with Amanda, they need to give it a rest. Amanda and Billy already tried the romantic route when they locked lips, but nothing else ever happened. Maybe Y&R writers should just go for Billy and Lily since they can’t seem to get Amanda and Billy over the next hurdle.
2) Billy needs to respect Amanda’s wishes
Amanda put Billy in the friend zone, so he needs to respect her wishes and move on with his life. The ball has to be in Amanda’s court here – and she’s already starting to date Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic). It wouldn’t be wise to have Billy look like a creep and pursue Amanda after everything she’s been through. It’d be OK for Amanda to do the pursuing, but maybe just letting this go would be for the best.
3) Nate Hastings and Amanda have real potential as a couple
Another reason for Billy and Amanda to stick to friendship would be Amanda’s potential with Nate. There’s definitely some hot chemistry going on, so The Young and the Restless might as well see where it leads. Billy and Amanda perhaps didn’t get a fair shot, but what about Amanda and Nate’s shot? Amanda might blow it if Y&R lets her stay too hung up on Billy.
4) Lily Winters is the perfect fresh start for Billy
Although Billy still feels a connection with Amanda, so much of their time together has been about overcoming issues and trauma. Billy and Amanda may always tie each other to the Ripley Turner (Christian Keyes) stabbing drama in their minds. There’s a heaviness that can be avoided by pairing Billy with Lily, who provides a fresh start and really lights up the best parts of his personality.
