The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Lily Winters (Christel Khalil) is moving onward and upward. She’s joined forces with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) at Chancellor Communications, so that brings some exciting story possibilities. Lily’s eager to make big things happen, but there’ll be some obstacles as she navigates this partnership with Billy.
Naturally, there’ll be some bickering along the way, but that could actually be a good thing if Y&R intends to pair Billy and Lily up romantically. In almost every situation like this, a soap tends to the couple route.
Even in the case of Billy and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) – who were so intent on sticking to friendship – there was at least a kiss shared in the end.
Amanda and Billy decided to remain friends for now, so Lily slid right into Amanda’s old spot. She’s the person Billy trusts and she “gets” him. It’s easy to imagine some flying sparks down the road, so we have to ask: Is this the final nail in “Lane’s” coffin?
Ever since Lily and Cane Ashby’s (Daniel Goddard) breakup, Lily’s been pretty adamant about moving on with her life. The Young and the Restless eventually wrote Cane out – and they actually have a good opportunity for closure coming up.
If Cane was revealed as being in on Colin Atkinson’s (Tristan Rogers) money laundering plot, that could certainly shut the door on Cane and Lily forever.
However, Y&R could to that even without Cane’s guilt. Lily doesn’t seem to be giving Cane much thought anymore. She’s all about her career and figuring out this new partnership with Billy.
There’s some history between Billy and Lily, so The Young and the Restless has a chance to build something great. Khalil and Thompson arguably have solid chemistry, so it’s worth a shot!
It almost feels significant that Khalil was willing to come back and do this big storyline after Goddard’s departure. It could be an indicator that Khalil was ready to move on from “Lane,” too.
The Young and the Restless spoilers say Lily will continue to thrive, so perhaps Cane is truly behind her. That could be good news or bad news depending on your point of view, but at least Lily’s made positive updates to her life.
