The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers suggest that we should talk about Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) future. Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) made the difficult decision to have Adam committed – and Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) backed him up.
Their team effort left Adam locked up in a mental health facility, where Adam’s been hallucinating and showing signs of unhinged behavior.
Y&R obviously can’t leave Adam at that facility indefinitely – and this out-of-control version of Adam can’t stay either. At some point, Adam will have to find a better path forward.
Victor has been pushing Adam to get better for the sake of his family with Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Connor Newman (Judah Mackey), but there could be a problem.
What happens once Adam relents and actually puts work into his recovery? If all goes well and Adam indeed gets better, he’ll be stable and released.
However, there has to be some sort of balance with a character like Adam. He can’t lose that chip on his shoulder and walk out of there as a completely changed man.
If The Young and the Restless pushes this too far and Adam’s not really the same man, will Chelsea still want to be with him? Chelsea complains about Adam’s behavior at times, but that’s usually when it slips into violent territory or leaves her as the victim.
That doesn’t mean Chelsea is entirely against scheming since she’s a pretty good schemer herself.
When you think about it, there’s surely some part of Chelsea that’s drawn to Adam’s dark side. Why else would Chelsea even consider reuniting with Adam after that kidnapping fiasco?
Adam claimed he never ordered his goons to drug Chelsea, but the point is Chelsea was abducted, held hostage and given a drug that made her lose it briefly. All of that was Adam’s fault.
Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) doesn’t think Chelsea sees the real Adam, but maybe Chelsea does – and maybe she likes it on some level. There’s probably a reason Chelsea’s bland pairings like the one with Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) fail.
Chelsea needs a bad boy! She wants excitement in her life, no matter what she might claim.
Adam told Sharon that Chelsea accepted the dark parts of him. “Chadam” may not work if Adam swings too far into the light! Do you think Chelsea is addicted to bad boy Adam?

Adam has some work to do before he can even think about getting out of that facility, but it’ll be interesting to see how Chelsea feels down the road.
