The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) needs something to snap him out of the funk he’s been in. It’s understandable that Adam’s world was rocked by the revelation that he killed AJ Montalvo as a boy, but he’s taking things to the extreme.
Many Y&R fans feel like Adam’s pity party is excessive and has gone on long enough.
This is Adam Newman! He’s not supposed to be some weak character who cowers in a crummy motel and complains about how horrible he is. Adam needs to find his strength again – and a good way to do that is through anger.
Right now, Adam is mostly sulking, although he does blame Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) for brushing his dark tendencies under the rug when he was a kid.
Maybe Adam can eventually shake off this whole “woe is me” thing and focus on the anger instead of the sadness. That could easily happen if Victor goes after custody of Connor Newman (Judah Mackey).
The Young and the Restless writers hinted at that possibility after Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) got into a heated argument with Victor and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott).
By the end of that argument, Chelsea declared that at least she wouldn’t feel obligated to bring Connor around anymore. She insisted she’d show Victor what it really looks like when a parent protects his or her child.
That left Victor concerned along with Nikki, who was appalled over Chelsea’s major meltdown. Victor suggested something would have to be done to protect Connor soon.
It’s easy to see how this could build to a serious custody battle. That might be the wakeup call Adam needs to get his act together and fight back against Victor.
Adam feels like Connor’s going to need his mother more than ever now. Since Adam doesn’t think he belongs in the “Chadam” family anymore, he knows Connor will have to lean on Chelsea to cope.
What happens if Victor flexes his power and makes sure a judge grants him custody? Would cutting Chelsea out rile Adam up and convince him to end this pit party once and for all?
Perhaps Adam could join Chelsea’s fight to stop Victor and keep him as far away from Connor as possible.
Adam feels like Victor ruined his life with the cover-up all those years ago, so he won’t want Victor ruining Connor’s life as well. Maybe Adam will find a way to deal with his past by preventing Victor’s influence on Connor.
Regardless, you can bet Adam won’t like it if Victor tries to take Connor from Chelsea. Adam wouldn’t want any more upheaval or destruction for his son.
Will Adam finally snap out of it and regain that true Newman fire? Let’s hope Adam will intervene before Victor takes Connor away from Chelsea! As other Y&R news and updates emerge, we’ll keep you posted.
