The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Dina Burial and Abbotts Graveside Grieving – Death Moves Forward With Outdoor Shooting Plan

The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers tease that Y&R’s back in production and preparing to bring fans some new episodes. One way the show’s protecting everybody is by shooting mostly outdoors – at least for now. That could change as time goes on, but it’s certainly a helpful tactic as they try to keep their cast and crew members the appropriate distance apart.

Could this shooting strategy tie in with what’s next for the Abbott family? The Young and the Restless fans will recall that Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams) was near the end off the road before the shutdown happened. Dina was unresponsive for the most part and was asleep more than she was awake.

Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) called Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) home and pulled his mother out of her memory care facility so she could leave her final weeks at the Abbott mansion.

Jack also took a step back at Jabot, and the whole family was trying to come to grips with Dina’s looming death. It’s clear that Dina’s story was rapidly approaching its conclusion.

With all that in mind, what happens on new episodes? It seems like it’d be unrealistic to hold off on this death until who knows when. The show’s established that this demise is coming up fast, so they may choose to move forward with their plan. Of course, that’d probably mean making a few adjustments.

It’s possible Marla Adams will still film new episodes, but it seems unnecessary under the circumstances. There’s no point in the nearly 82-year-old actress putting herself at risk when her character can’t really respond to anyone in a scene.

Old footage could be edited together, or a stand-in could be used if we need to see Dina’s loved ones saying goodbye.

Things are a bit different for 79-year-old Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) since Victor’s a huge part of the show. It’s not like Victor’s story is winding down! Plus, Braeden’s clearly willing and eager to get back in the action whereas Adams may not feel comfortable with that.

Regardless, Dina’s death was probably already written before the shutdown, so how might the show move forward with that story? Could this outdoor shooting plan be used following Dina’s burial? Maybe Y&R could let Jack and Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) discuss their mother’s life while appearing to stand over her grave.

Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) and Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) could get their own turn to reflect. Kyle Abbott (Michael Michael) might eventually get a private moment to acknowledge his grandmother. He could even run into Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson) at Dina’s grave and find some common ground with his grieving cousin.

That’d help The Young and the Restless avoid the usual group funeral idea and do something that’d still honor Dina’s memory. Whatever the case, Y&R will have to make some changes and find new ways to tackle their previous plans.

We’ll see if they stick to Dina dying soon in new Y&R episodes, which should be just around the corner now that the show’s in production again.
