The Young and the Restless spoilers document that this week’s production restart means new episodes are being produced and ready to air as soon as mid August. Many storylines will restart when the eagerly awaited first weeks of fresh shows are broadcast. One of them involves the Abbott family’s crisis that relates to Dina Mergeron’s (Marla Adams) deteriorating condition.
When fans last saw this legacy clan the Abbott’s decided that it was best for Dina to return to the family mansion. She’d been in the Memory Care center for a number of months, with Adams rarely being seen on-screen. But fans knew that the inevitable crescendo to this story was building.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Dina Mergeron’s Greatly Performed Storyline
This Alzheimer’s storyline has been slowly playing out since Adams rejoined the cast after many years of absence. This arc has proven to be one of the best and most memorable in recent Y&R history, with Adams’ performances, along with those of her connected colleagues, shining brightly.
After not being seen since 2008, Adams was offered a recurring contract in 2017. The reintroduction of her character, who was once John Abbott’s (Jerry Douglas) much-discussed wife, was paved by a compelling story that included her companion, Graham Bloodworth (Max Shippee).
His eventual death, at Dina’s hands, served as a transition period where the effects of Alzheimer’s became debilitating. Adams became a Daytime Emmy nominee in 2018 for her stellar performances.
Taking viewers to present day, Dina has momentary periods where she is lucid. Fans recognized in the spring that meant Adams’ time with the cast was likely running short and heading to a sad Abbott family death.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Traci Abbott Remains Grounded
While she’s the baby of the family, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland) has long been the stable voice of reason. She’s often needed to play referee between Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson).
It wouldn’t be fully believable if the above dynamic suddenly changed, even considering the stress involved in the situation. So, viewers might anticipate Jack and Ashley to exchange heated verbal blows again.
But there are other family members in the mix, including Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway), Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor), and Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson), who was more recently revealed as Dina’s grandson. So, the possibility exists that Kyle and Theo will go at each other again, with Dina’s health as the proxy.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Keeping The Doors At Y&R Open
Here’s hoping that Y&R’s return to production isn’t soon followed by another shutdown. This show didn’t immediately follow its sister show’s (The Bold and the Beautiful) lead in returning to work at CBS Studios in June. Whether that was feasible isn’t known.
By not starting work until this week, Y&R won’t be able to have a new show ready to air until approximately a month passes. So, fans should see Dina and her family by the middle to later part of August if all goes smoothly with filming and production.
