The Young and the Restless Spoilers: Fans Cheer Doug Davidson's Return - Paul Decides Chance's Uncertain Future

The Young and the Restless spoilers document that Doug Davidson’s (Paul Williams) return to Y&R’s scenes wouldn’t have been noteworthy in days gone by. But the second longest tenured actor on the show became a recurring player in recent years.

Paul is seen speaking with Chance Chancellor (Donny Boaz) this week. The Chief originally asked him to consider a detective’s position with the Genoa City Police Department. But Chance knows that Paul’s awareness his recent past might ruin this career opportunity.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Chance Chancellor Tells The Truth

Chance informed Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) that he told Paul details about what happened in Las Vegas, Nevada. Adam doesn’t operate on the same moral level as Chance, so he thought that was a bad move.

But Chance felt that Paul deserved the truth. Telling him that was most importantly right and might serve to save the offer.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Some Mistakes Can’t Be Corrected

Some type of procedural snafu, or minor mistake might have been rationalized. But, unless he’s faking his own death in order to beat a murder rap, as was the case during the classic Cassandra Rawlins (Nina Arvesen) arc that Davidson worked more than thirty years ago, Paul generally goes by the book.

Sure, there have been various moments in his backstory where Paul bent the rules, or talked way what happened, like when he chose to let Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) off after she intentional ran Christine Blair (Lauralee Bell) and himself down with her car. But when it comes to the people who work for him, Paul firmly that order furthers enforcement of the law.

Mark Harding (Chris McKenna) was rogue officer who proved to be a killer. While Chance isn’t in that category, he knowingly didn’t report the death of a suspect at Adam’s hands, albeit in self-defense. That speaks to judgment and trust, either of which could rule him out of consideration.

Young And The Restless Spoilers – Doug Davidson Is Needed On Y&R

Davidson joined the cast in 1978, which came five years after Kate Linder (Esther Valentine) debuted during Y&R’s inaugural year. So, that makes Davidson second only to Linder in terms of tenure.

It’s inarguable that Davidson was a vital member of this ensemble, who helped to build the show into the worldwide juggernaut that it became and remains. Here’s hoping that TPTB write Paul into the show more often, as he and the great actor who portrays him are beloved.
