The Young and the Restless spoilers for Friday, August 7, tease that viewers will see an episode that originally aired on September 1, 2016. In the episode, Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) will have an emotional visit with his mother Lucinda Winters (Nichelle Nichols), who is in a facility and in rapidly declining health.
Neil will be hostile toward his mother, since his mother walked out on him as a child. Lucinda will note from her bed tat Neil has grown into a fine man and that she’s kept up with him over the years.
Neil will be gruff with his mother, pointing out that she never wanted anything to do with him, prompting her to say she had no choice but to leave. Neil will balk, saying that everyone has a choice, and he’ll bluster at Lucinda until she tells him to shut his mouth and listen.
Lucinda will then proceed to say that she was an alcoholic back then and that Neil didn’t need to be around that as a child. Neil will immediately tear up and he’ll bury his face in his hands.
Neil will reveal that he, too, is an alcoholic, and he’ll say that he forgives Lucinda. After this breakthrough, Lucinda will say that she wouldn’t have done anything differently, since Neil didn’t need to grow up with a drunk for a mother. Ultimately, Neil will agree to stay with his mother, and they’ll embrace emotionally.
Meanwhile, Dylan McEvoy (Steve Burton) will hold a press conference announcing that Chelsea Lawson (Melissa Claire Egan) and Adam Newman (Justin Hartley) are fugitives.
From the Newman ranch, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) and Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will watch the press conference. Soon, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) will arrive at the ranch, and he’ll try to convince Victor to get Adam to turn himself in.
That will lead to an argument between Victor and Jack, and soon Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) and Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) will arrive and offer Victor a deal for information on where Adam is.
Victor will say that they aren’t going to get any information from him. After Christine and Paul go, Jack will start in on Nikki, trying to appeal to her to quit protecting Victor. Nikki will set Jack straight, and Jack will leave angry.
At the cabin, Chelsea and Adam will talk about their next move. Adam will want to turn himself in since Connor Newman (Gunner and Ryder Gadbois) has a fever and needs to see a doctor asap.
Chelsea will decide to go to the ER with their new fake IDs, and if caught, she’ll lie and say that she never found Adam. Chelsea will go, but soon she’ll realize that there’s an Amber alert out on her and Connor.
Chelsea will go to a motel, where she’ll call Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow), who will happen to be at Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) and Dylan’s place. Nick will take off and show up later at the motel along with a doctor who will discreetly examine Connor. Nick will want to go to the cabin with Chelsea, and Chelsea will agree.
Meanwhile, back at the cabin, Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) will walk in the door and promptly shoot Adam with a tranquilizer dart. Adam will start to get drowsy, and he’ll ask how Chloe found him.
Chloe will explain that she figured out that Chelsea was in contact with Adam. Chloe will insist that Adam’s not going to walk away from this.
Adam will realize that Chloe worked with Victor to set him up, and Chloe will admit her part in the plan. Chloe will then say that she intends to watch Adam die. Later, Nick, Chelsea, and Connor will pull up to the cabin in Nick’s car.
Chelsea will tell Nick to wait while she goes and tells Adam that Nick is there. As Chelsea walks toward the cabin, the cabin will explode. Nick will yell out, “Chelsea!” as Chelsea is thrown back from the blast.
