The Young and the Restless spoilers review for Friday, February 7, tease that Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) will be at home preparing for her first day of chemotherapy tomorrow. She’ll be frazzled and busy packing stuff for her chemo appointment and cooking just in case she doesn’t feel like doing it after chemotherapy. Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) will try to comfort her, and as they share some ice cream, Rey will ask her what’s in her heart.
Sharon will be reluctant to share, saying that some things hurt too much to talk about. She’ll tear up as she explains that this is the kind of thing that happens to someone else, and that she keeps expecting someone to call and say that it’s all been a big mistake. Rey will listen as she goes on, and he’ll try to touch her to offer comfort, but she’ll recoil, and Rey will want to know what he can do to help.
Sharon will say that she’s terrified, and she’ll start to break down as she says that if she could go back and do things differently, she would not take anything for granted. Rey will then ask if he can stay the night…on the couch. Sharon will reluctantly agree, as she’ll want to be alone in her own bed for the night. Rey will then tuck her in bed and head back downstairs to the couch.
Sharon will attempt to sleep but she’ll toss and turn restlessly. Soon, she’ll hear Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) calling her name, but it will be Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes) instead. Sharon will say that she’s been thinking about her so much lately. Cassie will tell Sharon to come with her, and she’ll reach out for her hand. Sharon will assume that Cassie means to come with her to the other side, and she’ll refuse, saying there’s still so much that she wants to do.
Still, Cassie will insist that her mother come with her, but Sharon will get upset and say no. Cassie will fade away, and Sharon will get up and go downstairs, but when she gets there, Rey will be gone. Sharon will call out for him, saying that he promised to stay with her. Sharon, who will clearly be dreaming, will then magically appear in Crimson Lights in a hospital gown.
Mariah will be there serving coffee, and she’ll quickly inform Sharon that Rey has gone back to Miami. Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) will then appear, saying that Rey is gone because no man wants to be with a woman who is riddled with cancer. Sharon will protest, saying that he’ll be back, and that she has Mariah. But Mariah will say that she’s going on tour with Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks), since Sharon pushed her away.
Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will then arrive to take Phyllis out on a hot date as Phyllis pushes Sharon into a chair to receive her chemo. Sharon will beg Nick to stay and not to go with Phyllis, but Nick will say that Sharon doesn’t need him to move mountains and go overboard with everything. Cassie will then appear and tell her mom that she doesn’t have to be afraid and that she’ll never be alone.
Back in reality, Rey will be on the couch in the dark when Mariah comes in the front door. She’ll be armed with pepper spray, but Rey will turn on the light and she’ll see that it’s him. She’ll question why Rey is on the couch, and he’ll say that it was Sharon’s choice. Mariah will say that hopefully she’s upstairs having the best dream ever.
Meanwhile, Sharon will continue dreaming. She’ll go downstairs to find a makeshift operating room in the living room, as Mariah is hosting an episode of GC Buzz there as well. The topic of the show will be Sharon, and Mariah’s panel of guests will be Rey, Phyllis, and Nick. They’ll discuss Sharon before surgery compared to after surgery, and they’ll each talk about how it changed her. Eerily, they’ll talk about her in the past tense and berate her for “choosing this.”
Sharon will be horrified as they discuss how they didn’t recognize her anymore after the cancer treatment. At the end of the GC Buzz episode, the “Sharon” on the operating table will flatline and Sharon will yell at herself, saying, “You said you would fight!” She’ll then yell at the doctors not to leave her there alone as they all back away.
Later, Sharon’s dream will take her to the Grand Phoenix, where Phyllis will tell her that she’s due for radiation therapy. She’ll sit down in a big chair and a light will shine on her, but she’ll protest that this isn’t how radiation works. Rey will give her some pills for the pain, and Mariah will approach with a cane since her bones are brittle from chemo.
Soon, Mariah will give Sharon a mirror, and her reflection will be of her wearing a head scarf. Nick and Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) will come in, and Faith will run into her arms crying. She’ll tell Faith not to cry, but Nick will pull Faith away. Cassie will again appear, saying, “Mom, it’s time.” Sharon will cry, but Cassie will tell her it’s time to go home and not to be afraid. “Come and see,” she’ll say. And with that, Sharon will wake up and go downstairs.
Sharon will emerge into the living room to hear Mariah and Rey talking. Mariah will be saying that she wishes her mother didn’t shut them out sometimes, and Sharon will say, “Wish granted.” She’ll then tell Rey and Mariah about her dream and that she’s glad they’re both there. She’ll say that cancer has made her feel isolated and separate from everyone, and they’ll tell her that she has them every step of the way.
Sharon will promise to be better about telling them what she needs, starting with the fact that she’s hungry. They’ll make food for her, and soon Nick and Faith will show up and they’ll dine together happily. Sharon will say that she feels like the luckiest woman in the world. Finally, Sharon will ask her girls to sleep with her, and as she lays between Faith and Mariah in bed, Cassie will be watching over them.
