The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers recap for Friday, January 10, teases that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will have a little birthday bash at Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) place. Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) will be on hand to help them celebrate. As they sit around the table, the conversation will shift to Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes).
Sharon will suggest that Cassie’s looking down on them and is very grateful that they found each other. After Mariah opens presents, she’ll let Faith know hanging out with her was the best gift of all.
Once Sharon’s alone with Mariah, she’ll talk about Mariah having more time on her hands thanks to Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) tour. Sharon will want to make sure they make plenty of mother-daughter memories that’ll last forever.
At Crimson Lights, Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) will hear a proposal. Devon Hamilton (Bryton James), Elena Dawson (Brytni Sarpy) and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will talk to Nate about the New Hope clinic. They’ll ask if Nate’s willing to oversee the protocol, and Nate will insist he’d be honored to do so.
At Mariah and Tessa’s apartment, Tessa will reply to Tanner Watts’ (Chase Coleman) text about sending a car for her. Tanner will hope Tessa’s packed and ready to go, but she’ll look glum as she gazes at her empty suitcase.
Devon will pop in soon after, so Tessa will acknowledge that things haven’t always gone smoothly between them. However, Devon’s approval will mean everything to Tessa, and she’ll be glad he can look out for Mariah while she’s gone. Next, Mariah will return home and get a birthday gift from Devon before he exits.
After Tessa’s car shows up, she’ll admit she’s not ready to go. The Young and the Restless spoilers say Mariah will insist this isn’t goodbye and joke about Tessa not coming back until she’s a mega superstar. Tessa will be grateful that Mariah believes in her.
Once Tessa kisses Mariah, she’ll cry and struggle to pull away. Mariah will convince her to go, but they’ll blow each other one last kiss as Tessa looks back.
Once Mariah’s alone, she’ll let her emotions pour out as she leans against the door. Y&R’s wisely playing this goodbye up for drama’s sake, but some new story developments will keep Tessa onscreen in the coming weeks.
As for Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford), she’ll chat with Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) at Society on Friday. The ladies will take the opportunity to get to know each other a bit better.
Phyllis and Amanda will view each other as being very driven individuals. After Phyllis spies Abby Newman (Melissa Ordway) with “Chance” Chancellor (Donny Boaz), she’ll promise Amanda that being her friend is never boring.
They’ll also address Phyllis marrying into the Newman and Abbott families at different points in time. She’ll think Nick, Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) and Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) are all good men at their core.
Back with Chance, he’ll mention that a new job just fell into his lap. Chance will look over at Amanda moments later, so he could uncover a few secrets soon. In the meantime, Amanda will meet up with Billy at the dive bar and wonder why he didn’t tell Sharon the truth about them. He’ll suggest he didn’t want Sharon to wonder before bringing up Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle).
Billy will wish Victoria wasn’t always trying to fix him. He’ll think he should really get to know Amanda, so she’ll share more about her past. Amanda will reflect on being a troublemaker as a kid, but she eventually started creating the life she wanted. However, the man she thought was her soul mate began to change.
Amanda will talk about how controlling he was and will mention the order of protection she got. She’ll note that he got on as well, which Billy will find ridiculous. Amanda will think the absurd part is that she didn’t see it coming. Billy will wish he could track the guy down and smack him.
Amanda will point out that Billy can understand her hesitance to get involved in a new romance, but she’ll appreciate the chance to know new people. They’ll toast to friendship, but Billy will wonder in his head about why it feels like crossing a line.
Back with Phyllis, she’ll call someone to collect a favor. Abby will be called to deal with a Grand Phoenix emergency soon after. Once Phyllis offers to buy Chance a drink, he’ll note that he sees right through her. However, Chance will have some time to kill, so he’ll agree to that drink.
At the cottage again, Sharon will get a visit from Nick. The Young and the Restless spoilers say they’ll reflect on Cassie’s death and look at old photos. After Nick brings up his latest projects at New Hope, Sharon will be happy for him. She’ll think it’s good to have things to look forward to.
Later, Sharon get confirmation that biopsy appointment is tomorrow. She’ll hang up as Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) enters and wonders what’s been distracting her. Rey will gently push for honesty, but Sharon will suggest she’s had a lot on her mind with Cassie and everything. She’ll talk about being reminded of how precious time is.
