The Young and the Restless spoilers review for Friday, January 10, tease that Mariah Copeland (Camryn Grimes) will arrive for her birthday celebration at Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) house. Mariah, Sharon, and Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind) will enjoy a meal and cupcakes together. They’ll acknowledge Cassie Newman (Camryn Grimes), too, and remember her on this special day.
After Faith leaves, Mariah will let her mom know that she’s trying to be strong since Tessa Porter (Cait Fairbanks) is leaving to go on tour later. Sharon will say that they’ll spend lots of mother-daughter time together, making lasting memories. Sharon will clearly be thinking about the possibility that she might have cancer as she hugs Mariah.
Later, Mariah will arrive home to bid Tessa farewell on her tour. Mariah will note that this is the worst birthday ever, and Tessa will be seriously hesitant to go. They’ll make a big deal out of how this isn’t a “goodbye” and how the tour won’t last forever, but the whole thing will have the feeling of permanence. Tessa will leave, with both of the ladies in tears.
Meanwhile, on the new episode of Y&R on Friday, January 10, Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) will hear from his consulting company that there’s no more work for him at the present time, and he’ll seem directionless. He’ll end up texting Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan), who will be dining with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) at Society. He’ll invite her to meet and say that he wants to apologize.
Later, Amanda will arrive at the little bar outside of Genoa City. Billy will happily greet her, then he’ll apologize for how he handled things with Sharon at Crimson Lights. She’ll accept his apology and ask him what’s going on. He’ll say that Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) is out of town and he has nothing to keep him busy. Amanda will wonder what he’s trying to escape, and Billy will say “myself.”
Billy will go on about how Victoria thinks she has to fix him, and that it seems that she wants him to fit into a mold. He’ll say he just wants to be accepted, and Amanda will think that he’s just looking for balance, which isn’t too much to ask. This will help Billy, who will then turn to Amanda and want to know more about her.
Amanda will say that she grew up in foster care, and that she got into trouble when she was younger but later wanted to do better, so she created the life she wanted. “Then I met him,” she’ll say. “My soulmate, or so I thought.” Amanda will explain that she was engaged to “him,” then started noticing subtle changes in him.
Billy will look very serious as Amanda explains how she ended up getting an order of protection on “him,” and he did the same with her. She’ll lament that she never saw it coming – she was careful, insightful, yet she picked the worst man in the world for her. Billy will surmise that because of that experience, she no longer trusts herself, and he’ll understand why she wanted a fresh start in Genoa City.
Amanda will note that this is why getting romantically involved with someone is the last thing she wants right now, and Billy will remark that since he’s already spoken for, she didn’t have to worry about him. They’ll toast to their friendship, but privately Billy will wonder why it feels like he’s crossing the line.
Finally, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will show up at Sharon’s place. He’ll say he misses their girl, and they’ll spend some time together looking through photo albums and remembering Cassie. After Nick’s gone, Sharon will get a call reminding her about her core needle biopsy tomorrow. She’ll exhale, clearly stressed, when Rey Rosales (Jordi Vilasuso) arrives.
Rey will note that he’s worried about her because it seems that she’s been distracted and a bit overwhelmed lately. He’ll directly ask if there’s something going on, and if there is, then he wants to know about it. Sharon will simply say that she keeps getting reminders about how precious time is, and she won’t divulge what she’s really going through.
