The Young and the Restless spoilers recap for Friday, July 17, tease that viewers will see an encore episode that originally aired on December 21, 2016. At Crimson Lights, Esther Valentine (Kate Linder) will share good news with Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) and Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart). Esther will share that she got a note from Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) asking her to return to the Chancellor mansion to live and work. Esther will be overjoyed.
Meanwhile, at Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc) and Lauren Baldwin’s (Tracey E. Bregman) place, a huge present will arrive, and they’ll be stunned when Gloria Abbott (Judith Chapman) jumps out of the box, yelling, “Deck the halls, everybody! Gloria is back!” Soon, Kevin, Chloe, and Bella Fisher (Martie Blair) will arrive, and Gloria will notice that Bella looks like Kevin.
Kevin and Chloe will explain that Bella is Kevin’s daughter, and Gloria will start in on Chloe, clearly thinking that she’s not good enough for Kevin. Gloria will bark at Chloe about being in a mental facility, and Chloe will fight back with some of Gloria’s past misdeeds. Kevin will be horrified, not wanting his mother to ruin Christmas. But Gloria will persist, and she and Chloe will keep bickering.
Over at the Newman Ranch, Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) will be feeling melancholy as she puts a present under the Christmas tree. Nikki will be thinking about “Sully,” and she and Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) will talk about how “Sully” has undergone so much change, as has Faith Newman (Alyvia Alyn Lind). Victor will relay that he spent the night in the stables with Faith after he found her hiding there.
Soon, Faith will arrive, and she’ll lament to her grandparents that she doesn’t know where her home is since her parents are embroiled in a major disagreement. Meanwhile, over at the Underground, Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) will talk with Noah Newman (Robert Adamson) about the difficult situation with Faith. Nick will be itching for Faith to stay with him, but Noah will caution his dad.
Noah will empathize with Faith, saying that he has lived the whole thing with his parents constantly at each other’s throats. Noah will tell Nick that he and Sharon need to get their act together and avoid heading to court and putting Faith through all of that. Over with Sharon Newman (Sharon Case), she and Dylan McEvoy (Steve Burton) will talk about the situations with “Sully” and Faith. Dylan will offer Sharon his support, and he’ll reassure her that Faith will come around.
Sharon will be worried about a possible court battle, noting that the Newmans are right at home in the courtroom, and that Nick has all that power and money behind him, Dylan will tell Sharon that he’ll stick by her, and that the Newmans won’t prevail in this. But Sharon will think that the Newmans will do whatever they can to shut her out of Faith’s life.
Soon, Dylan will get a call and take off, and Nick will stop by to see her as she’s leaving to go see him. Nick will think that they need to stop fighting so that Faith can feel safe again. After a little back and forth and bickering, Nick and Sharon will appear to get on the same page. And over at the Newman stables, Victor and Faith will talk some more, with Faith insisting that she wants to choose where she lives – not her parents.
Later, Sharon, Dylan, and Nick will arrive at the main house at the ranch, saying that they’ve reached an understanding about Faith. Victor will let them know that he talked with Faith, and that Faith wants to choose where she’ll live. Noah will show up, and the adults will all argue about what’s best for Faith. Victor will think that Faith should decide where she lives, with Noah in full agreement. Noah will think that all the fighting just needs to stop.
Faith will show up next, having overheard all of the adults arguing. Sharon will present Faith with a living schedule that they have all agreed upon, so that Faith will know where she’s going to be and when. Faith won’t like that, as she won’t want to go back and forth between homes. Faith will announce that she wants to live with her grandparents, where there won’t be any fighting.
Dylan will step in when Sharon complains about Faith’s decision, saying that Faith needs to know that she has some control over her life. Faith will appreciate that, and then she’ll turn to Victor and Nikki, asking if she can live with them. Nikki and Victor will agree, and eventually Nick and Sharon will relent, and Sharon will tell Faith that she just wants her to be happy.
