The Young and the Restless spoilers for Friday, June 26, tease that viewers will see an encore episode that originally aired on July 19, 1999. The episode is part of “Emmy Winning Performances Week” and it helped Camryn Grimes win a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Younger Actress for her portrayal of Cassie Johnson, who later became known as Cassie Newman.
The episode will begin with Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) meeting with Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John). Victor will be feeling funny about the last board meeting, and he’ll think that Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) let the Matheson deal go way too easily.
Victor will wonder what Jack is up to, and he’ll instruct Neil to go tell Jill Abbott (Jess Walton) not to leave town for the time being. Victor will want things ready for when he gives the word.
Neil will go to Jill’s office, where Jill will be gazing at a photo of Billy Abbott (David Tom) and drinking alcohol from a glass. Jill will quickly hide the glass when Neil comes in.
Neil will smell the alcohol and he’ll press Jill about it, but she’ll try to deflect, saying that she had a business lunch. Jill will ultimately leave, and Neil will find the glass of alcohol after she goes.
Over at the restaurant, Jack and Grace Turner (Jennifer Gareis) will be sitting at a table, and Jack will be impressed with Grace’s contributions to the meeting. Jack will say that Grace has backed the right man to further her career.
Across the room, Diane Jenkins (Alex Donnelley) will be at a table and will jealously notice Jack and Grace together. Soon, Diane will get a call from Victor who will want to meet.
Later, Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc), who will be in the restaurant drinking, will approach Grace when Jack steps away to make a call. Michael will tell Grace that Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) has won the case and that Alice Johnson (Tamara Clatterbuck) gave up.
Jack will return, noting the tension between Michael and Grace.
Victor will arrive at the restaurant to talk with Diane, and he’ll want to bury the hatchet and become friends again. Diane will be skeptical, and before she takes off, she’ll make a comment about “another man trying to use her.”
Victor will assume that Diane’s talking about Jack, and that it might be time to put his plan into the works.
Next, Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson) and Cole Howard (J. Eddie Peck) will spend a lazy morning together, having breakfast in bed and talking about things. Later, while Cole’s in the shower, Ashley will look over some papers from the office, and she’ll realize what Jack and Brad Carlton (Don Diamont) have done. Ashley will say to herself that the men have gone too far this time.
Over in court, the judge will be ready to rule in the custody case involving Cassie Johnson (Camryn Grimes), and things won’t be looking good for Sharon and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow). Suddenly, the social worker will walk in with Cassie in tow, saying that Cassie insists on being heard.
Cassie will approach the bench, and she’ll make an emotional plea to the judge, saying that if she has to go to Madison to live with Alice, then she’ll go and that she’ll do her best to be happy.
But Cassie will say that if she has any choice at all, then she wants to live with her Mommy and Nick. The judge will gently ask about the problems between Sharon and Nick, but Cassie will say that she knows about that, but she also knows that they love each other.
After excusing Cassie from the room, the judge will grant custody to Sharon and Nick, who will be overjoyed. Cassie will soon re-enter the room and learn that she gets to live with Sharon and Nick.
Nick will decide that a celebration is in order, and he’ll invite Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) and Christine Williams (Lauralee Bell) to join them, but Christine will say that this is a family time.
Later, Paul and Christine will catch up at home, and Christine will break down and start crying, saying that she is completely drained. Paul will be concerned. Meanwhile, Cassie, Sharon, and Nick will go home and celebrate with ice cream.
