The Young and the Restless (Y&R) spoilers for Friday, May 1, tease that the show’s latest flashback offering will center around Katherine Chancellor’s (Jeanne Cooper) 2009 wedding to Patrick Murphy (Michael Fairman). Y&R will deliver some wild moments and familiar faces, so let’s dive in so you’ll know what to expect.
At the Chancellor Estate, drunk Jill Abbott’s (Jess Walton) on the verge of making a scene when Nina Webster (Tricia Cast) leaps into action. Later, Lauren Baldwin (Tracey E. Bregman) finds Jill tied up and gagged in the closet!
The wedding begins, but Nina comes in late and draws attention. Jill isn’t far behind, so she interrupts the ceremony to rant about Nina’s latest stunt. Cane Ashby (Daniel Goddard) eventually calms Jill down enough to let the nuptials proceed.
After Murphy and Katherine exchange vows as well as rings, they’re pronounced husband and wife. Katherine and Murphy share a kiss as the guests cheer them on – all except for miserable Jill! Later, Jill blasts Nina again, which amuses Katherine.
As for Murphy, he gets a warm welcome to the family from Brock Reynolds (Beau Kazer) and Mackenzie “Mac” Browning (Clementine Ford). Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) toasts to the happy couple while Mary Jane (Stacy Haiduk) displays strange behavior.
Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) is puzzled when Mary Jane isn’t keen on discussing her earlier chat with Victor. Mary Jane excuses herself over a sudden headache and exits.
Next, Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) announces that he’s now the CEO of Chancellor Industries. Victor doesn’t seem too happy about that. Kevin Fisher (Greg Rikaart) is on hand for some brother bonding with Michael Baldwin (Christian LeBlanc). Katherine’s grateful to Kevin and Amber Moore (Adrienne Frantz) for their help in proving her identity.
Since Amber and Kevin are still facing criminal charges, Katherine suggests she can call the governor to request a pardon for both of them. Back with Victor, he corners Katherine to insist she should’ve talked to him about hiring Neil beforehand.
Katherine brings up Sabrina and how Victor’s still punishing Nikki Newman (Melody Thomas Scott) for her death. Kay doesn’t understand why, but Victor points out Nikki was tied to David Chow. However, Katherine thinks Victor would be better off letting go of the past and all his anger.
Over with Ashley Abbott (Eileen Davidson), she’s apologetic about how Victor treated Nikki. Ashley and Nikki discuss how someone arranged for Ash to wear Sabrina’s dress, which set Victor off.
It led to accusations being hurled at Nikki, so Ashley’s sorry about that. Ashley thinks she knows who’s responsible for the hoax, but she stays tight-lipped about who it is.
Next, Nikki frets to Jack about Ashley feeling like she has to compete with Sabrina’s ghost. Jack finds Victor soon after to share his own concerns, but Victor insists he’ll take care of Ashley. Nikki’s dance with Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) is interrupted by Victor, who dances awkwardly with Nikki and offers a halfhearted apology.
Back with Jill, she spars with Katherine briefly before heading to the GCAC with Billy and Cane. They offer plenty of coffee to sober Jill up. As for Kevin and Amber, they’re in the clear thanks to Katherine’s governor pardon mission. Michael updates Kevin, who’s stunned and grateful.
Billy makes it back to the reception, where he learns Chloe Mitchell (Elizabeth Hendrickson) already left. On the patio, Mac dances with Billy as they admit to reflecting on their own marriage during the earlier ceremony.
Billy reflects on how powerful their relationship was before Mac points out they’ve moved on. When Mac goes to leave, Billy stops her and plants a kiss. Chloe comes back just in time to spot it.
Mac slaps Billy before running off, but Chloe kisses that same cheek and tells her husband to come home with her. Inside, it was time for Katherine’s bouquet toss. Nikki scores the bouquet and leaves Paul beaming.
Katherine eventually joins Murphy upstairs in the bedroom. She can’t believe she’s an 80-year-old bride, but she intends to cherish each day as if it were their last.
When Jack checks on Mary Jane at the athletic club, things quickly turn passionate between them. The clothes start coming off as they lock lips. Down at the bar, Jill flirts with a young bartender and invites him to give her a cure in her room. He accepts the key card Jill offers and puts it in his pocket.
